    Using Teline IV with ja_thumbnail.

Everything looks good. But when I include a caption in my photos, it shows up in the blog view as well, and really does not look nice. I want the captions in the article vies, but is there a way I can turn this off for blog view?

    Example: http://mykpxi.com/index.php/local-news

    Thanks!

Can you not use the title attribute? Whatever you use as a title should be shown as a caption in the article view but will not show up on the frontpage or blog view.

Well, first I’m using JCE (That may make a difference). I’ve tried using both JCE image manager and the regular image edit button, same results. Just filling in the Title attribute does nothing. No text anywhere. If I include “caption” in the classes field in JCE, which is right above the title attribute and fill in the title attribute, then the caption shows up in the article AND on the blog view.

Simply look at the code on any of the demo pages (you can use the demo builder or do a local quickstart for that). You will then see how it is constructed with the demo. If you look at the demo you will see on all the blog pages that there is no caption but when you go to the articles the text “sample image” appears below eash image. That text is the title of each image (imaginative aren’t they). Hopefully that is the sort of thing you want. As stated above, if you look at the html for the articles you will see how each should be formed.

May have figured out something. I can’t use the resize feature due to permission issues so I’m using the “Use Source Image” option in ja_thumbnail. I’m guessing when you use “crop” or us the other option, it creates the new small thumbnail and does not create a caption item for it, thus it does not appear on the blog view. Just a thought. Again, I have to use the source image, which, again, I am assuming means I can’t use a caption because it will appear on the blog view.

You really need to sort out those permissions problems then you will have the effect you are after.

Well, that would be nice, but I don”t have the option. Apparently something with the way apache is run on my hosting company’s servers. So, since that is not an option, I was wondering is there is another way to turn off captions.

So your hosting prevents you from writing files? Sounds like you should find a decent host.

The way you are trying to do this means you are physically generating the code for the various pages. This will make it awkward to hide that code on certain pages only.

Thanks. Just looking for a little brainstorming on a specific problem. Dynamic code is what joomla does best.
