The folks at RocketTheme have a nice menu.

There are tabs and when you select a tab (section) then the categories for that section are shown permanently underneath (see picture below).

They call it RTSuperSucker menu – it provides fantastic instant split menu functionality using familar ‘tab’ navigation metaphor.
