October 12, 2011 at 7:02 am #169582I am unable to add new menu items to the main menu in my clean JA Droid 1.7 quickstart install.
I get the following error:Save failed with the following error: JTableMenu: :_getNode Failed –
and this from the error log:
[Fri Oct 07 16:16:48 2011] [warn] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Warning: Missing argument 1 for MenusControllerItem::batch(), called in /home/hollywoodpark/public_html/libraries/joomla/application/component/controller.php on line 679 and defined in /home/hollywoodpark/public_html/administrator/components/com_menus/controllers/item.php on line 52I have tried and cannot rebuild the menus either – this from the error log:
[Fri Oct 07 16:23:02 2011] [warn] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method MenusModelItem::getMessage() in /home/hollywoodpark/public_html/administrator/components/com_menus/controllers/menus.php on line 95Several other people have had the same error after upgrading to Joomla 1.7 – http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=625&t=632543&p=2543499&hilit=_getNode+Failed#p2543499
I have not upgraded my site, this is a new install. And as per the information provided in the joomla forum link I have checked that Menu_Item_Root
Has anyone else had a similar problem or know how to solve this?
I have also raised a support ticket so hopefully Joomlart Staff will have a solution soon that I can post here. Thanks

T’Anne . . . When you performed your quickstart installation, did you also install the sample data? What method did you use to upload/install the template – FTP?
Here is a STEP-BY-STEP[/url] tutorial you can follow to successfully perform a quickstart installation. I have utilized this method to install JA Droid many times for members – and have not experienced any issues.

October 13, 2011 at 12:54 am #418937Thanks Viet & Tom
I re-installed the template (last Friday) after experiencing this problem.
The install method was – upload the quickstart package via FTP, unzip the package, complete the installation wizard (with no sample data installed). I have previously done quickstart installs with no sample data (as I find it faster to customise) without any problems.
I have checked that the menu module is published and available to the public.
If you think it is the Sample Data that needs to be installed I will back up my modifications and try this.
Thanks

October 13, 2011 at 3:27 am #418954What I think you should do is unzip the quickstart files FIRST (into a temporary folder on your desktop or something), and then upload those files to your server. I’ve never heard of someone uploading the zip file to the server and then trying to unzip and upload from there.
Again, if you follow the steps in the tutorial linked above (and in my signature block below), you shouldn’t have a problem.

October 17, 2011 at 3:28 am #419712Hi
#1. Please try to upgrade your Joomla from 1.7.0 to 1.7.1 if have not yet upgraded.
#2. Sample data is not required. You can install template / quickstart w/o it and have no troubles. ( but this case qs is no meaning anymore ).Thank you

October 17, 2011 at 5:14 am #419721Hi Tom
I am not sure how unzipping the folders locally or on the server will make a difference? I have installed hundreds of sites by unzipping the files on my web server without a problem. It is so much more efficient to upload one compressed zip file as opposed the all of the uncompressed files. If we can not solve the problem another way I will try another quickstart with the sample data installed.
Cheers

October 18, 2011 at 6:23 am #419928Hi
There are lots of trouble in db of quickstart ( w/o sample ). But install qs w/o sample is same of Joomla default install . So i most suggest you go w/ Joomla! 1.7.1 ( Joomla_1.7.1-Stable-Full_Package.zip ) and install T3 / template after that.
It should be better.
Thank you
