Been banging my head against a wall for hours here! All I want to do is download the current JA Purity ii template (+T3?) for Joomla 1.7/2.5. I do not want a template and a full Joomla installation – just the template.

This page http://www.joomlart.com/joomla/templates/ja-purity-ii provides a download link for the 1.7 version of the template but it is broken – gives an invalid category id error.

If I go to the downloads page for T3 and Purity at http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=316 there is no mention of Purity ii in the main page but it is listed under “most popular files” in two guises:

    Ja Purity ii Stable version
Ja Purity ii template for Joomla 1.5

I guessed it must be the first but that says it is JA Purity II – T3 Framework for Joomla 1.5.15 which doesn’t sound right. I downloaded it anyway and tried to install it on a Joomla 2.5 test setup and got an error about a missing XML file.

This is ridiculous! Clearly lots of people have got Purity ii up and running on 1.7/2.5

PERLEEEEEESE just give me a bl**dy link for the template download so I can give it a whirl.

    Thanks,
    Nigel

(only been doing software for thirty years so clearly not intelligent enough to know where to look!)

Many thanks for the link. I would not have found it in a month of Sundays. It is bizarre how the two places that I would expect to find the template download as someone new to the site, given that Purity is named in both instances, are not where it is!!

I agree, I could not find this file. I have now uploaded it to my 2.1.5 site and is not showing up at the back end. Please can someone help.

I’m not sure why you are ftp-ing it up to the site and not using the extensions/extension manager to install. Do you get any error messages?

Is this a completely fresh 2.5.1 site? Are all the permissions correct?

You can look in Extensions/Extension Manager and then Discover and see what is there. You can ‘check’ it and install it via the install button on the top right. You will need to install JAT3 too. In case you have a problem finding it, it is here http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2087.

Install it and the template via Extensions Manager. If you are having problems installing using this than you need to look at your ftp settings in Global Configuration/server. Some hosting companies need this set up.

I have looked in the extension manager and it is there.
It is a completely fresh site.
The permissions for this template are 755
Are there other permissions I need to check?
    Many thanks

There is one trick that might want to try first. It is specific to 2.5.x .First clear the Joomla cache. Second go to Extension Manager, Database manager and then click the Fix button on the top right.

I’m not JA staff or a Moderator but if you want to send me your url and super user login details via PM I can have a look.

    Hi Sarsells,

The following refers to Joomla 2.5.1. What I did was install the template zip file using the extension manager. I do not have ftp enabled on my installation. The template should then appear in the template manager and you can select it as the default template to use. This however is not enough because when I tried to view the (empty) front end of the site I got an error message saying it couldn’t find the T3 system plug-in. You’ll need to download and install this too using the extension manager after which all should be well.

You can find the latest T3 system plugin here:

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2089

which is version 1.6.0 29th December 2011 and is the one I used.

Just to really confuse things there is an earlier version in the same place as the purity ii template:

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2144

which is version 1.3.1 dated 20th August 2011. I went with the later version. Go figure!

I don’t know if it is because we are dealing with “freebies” but it seems to me that the download situation is very very confused as it currently stands.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Nigel

Thanks for that but in a way it just highlights the problem. What is it? What does it do? How am I supposed to know about it? There should be one location which has information on what is needed to run the ja purity ii template and it should provide links to the current downloads. A new visitor to this site who has heard about the template and wants to give it a whirl doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of finding the right stuff to download as things currently stand. I wonder how many people just give up?

I would be grateful for information on what the extension you refer to does as there ain’t any information on the page you have kindly provided a link to.

(On re-reading this post apologies are called for. I am most grateful for the pointer to the extension. I guess my frustration at the problems in finding what to download got the better of me)

    Thanks,
    Nigel

    Hi Nigel,

at the top of the page is a menu Joomla.

Under that are Templates, Extensions and Downloads. Clicking on extensions brings you here
http://www.joomlart.com/joomla/extensions with JA Extensions Manager listed and described and a link to a page of its own along with a video.

Under Downloads is item Download T3 & Purity. There is then a sub menu under T3 Joomla 1.7 for Purity II leading to the downloads with everything needed to run it.

I don’t work here but I’m not sure how they could make it easier or more structured?

Hopefully now you know where to go.

Believe me, before I started this thread I looked in exactly the place you mention for the Purity ii downloads as it seemed so obvious:

    Joomla => Joomla Downloads => Download T3 & Purity

That takes you to a page with heading “Downloads: JA T3 Framework” at http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=316.

There is no sign of a submenu saying “T3 Joomla 1.7 for Purity II” on that page! Here is a screenshot to prove I’m not mad and shows the Joomla => Joomla Downloads => T3 and Purity sequence I used. The page shown is what you get for it. The second screenshot shows the main part of the page.

Postscript: Just realised that in the second screenshot Ja Purity ii mentioned as a sub-category in the description for “T3 Framework 2 for Joomla 1.7 (2011 version)” but it is not obvious m’lud. I have looked at the screen countless times and missed it. If you click on “T3 Framework 2 for Joomla 1.7 (2011 version)” or the sub-category link it is obvious where to go on the next page where Ja Purity ii is clearly flagged.

When you do eventually get to the files the JA T3 System Plug-In file is version 1.3.1 whereas the current version is 1.6.0. Is this a problem?

    Thanks,
    Nigel

    I’m sure you’re not mad! 😀

    Perhaps my wording

“T3 Joomla 1.7 for Purity II” threw you.

It should of course have been ” T3 Framework 2 for Joomla 1.7(2011 version)“Just to the right of that in the description box is this…

As I said earlier, I’m glad you’ve found it and now know where it is if you need it again! And we’ve enlightened anyone else who reads the thread so good news all round!;)
