March 23, 2012 at 11:18 am #175322Hi !
I have tried several times to update JA News Featured Module using JoomArt Extensions Manager.
I can see 3 updates but when i press upgrade now the system returns ” Processing. Please wait…” – but the update never ends.
I have tried to download the module for then to install it using Joomla Extension manager but here i get the message:
-1 – An error has occurred.
Copy failedWhat to do – I have seen this problem many times with different modules (and sometimes the template)
Best regards
Peter

March 23, 2012 at 11:18 am #445306Usually these sorts of problems are down to file permissions or ownership problems. If you can check the server logs for that time you will be able to see what files the script could not write to.
March 23, 2012 at 12:13 pm #445321I can´t get access to the serverlog – the site is hostet.
But i don´t understand why it is different modules that fails. Today I was able to update everything except the JA News Featured Module – a month ago it was the template and JA_tabs there was a problem with.

March 23, 2012 at 12:29 pm #445325It is because different files or folders need to be written to. The files for one module are different to another.
If you would like to send me ftp details and a super admin logon via PM I am happy to take a look for you. Please include a link to this thread and a link to your site in your PM.

I would really like to update to 2.5, but not before all modules are up-to-date.

Peter

March 26, 2012 at 10:34 pm #445792Unfortunately, you only sent FTP details but no super admin logon. Can you please send a PM with both including the link to your site and a link to this thread.

March 27, 2012 at 8:48 am #445868Thanks for your PM.
I have adjusted permissions, some of your files were set to read only for all (group, owner and public) which is why the module would not update. I have adjusted the permissions and updated your module for you. All JA components are now up to date.

November 2, 2012 at 9:08 pm #471810It all depends on your server setup, how you are updating and exactly what you are updating. Can you tell me what exactly your problems and error messages are and I will see if I can advise.

November 3, 2012 at 3:36 pm #471836Please use the JA Extension manager to update these extensions. As they are in many cases member only files the J updater will not update them as it does not have permissions to do so. The JA Extension Manager has a section where you can add your JA logon details so you can access ther files on the JA server.
November 15, 2012 at 9:38 am #472997Hi,
I have the same problem. No update of any JA extensions possible, all “copy failed”. I checked all permissions (no problem found), then used Admin Tools to “fix permissions”, then checked again. I see no problem, yet updates fail.
J!2.5.8, Mendozite Template 1.0.2
I also tried “JA Extension Manager” to upgrade, but all I get there is this:

Response from JoomlArt Updater Service: Your account does not have enough permission to take this action. Please contact “JoomlArt Updater Service” for more information or use another account.
Upgrade failure
What is the “JoomlArt Updater Service”? Which other account could I use? (I’m working on the site as super admin …)

November 15, 2012 at 9:43 am #472998Please read the guides. It explains that you need to enter your account credentials ( the same ones you use to log into this forum) into the service manager of the component. JA requires these credentials to know whether you are a member entitled to access subscription updates or not.
November 15, 2012 at 9:50 am #473000My odyssey finally took me to a “Services manager”. There, I could enter authentication data, and then this update finally worked.
Why is it not mentioned anywhere in the error message that this is necessary? The popup plugin that I now updated through the JA Extensions Manager still shows up in the normal Extensions Manager: Update. So the update is not recognized. What can I do about that?
