i get the following error when trying to upload images to media folder

How large are the image files you are trying to upload?

It may be a matter of tweaking a code setting for this function.
Which version of JA Ironis are you using – J1.5 or J1.7?

i cannot even get to the part of uploading an image

my hosting company is rochen and they said they cannot do this on a shared server – and that the problem is with the scripts of the template

Actually file upload is not JA issue . But would you mind tell me how size of image file you are uploading ?

the images are very small – 20 to 50kb tops
in uploading images – i do not even get to the media uploader screen
if it is not a JA problem then what kind of problem is it ?
I do not have this problem with my other sites with Rochen

how do I fix the problem ?
my hosting company is refusing to increase the execute time

I got why. Because your images folder have too much files / directories that spent too much time for php process.
To solve this you need clean up these directories, remove unsed files / dirs .

how were you able to check that ?

the only files i have uploaded is the template and a few images (not even a mg of images)

exactly what directories and files do i need to delete ?

Hi
I’ve tried to rename image folder and upload another one from Joomla 1.7 pack. Everything fine.
I can say which one you should be deleted because it’s depend on which one you are using.
Please try to find down anything in this folder and delete anything you don’t use.

Not media folder 🙂
I saw you still have some sample / demos files / directories.
Please clean up this.

ps:// i think you should try to ask your hosting provider can we use htaccess or override php.ini for custom execute time on page.
