Trying to upload my logo is kicking my butt! I cannot find the images/logo.gif folder anywhere in media manager. Now, for some reason, the template is unwriteable. Joomlart really should offer logo installation as a part of their service. I guess it goes without saying that I’m a newbie. Willing to pay for help.
June 5, 2008 at 9:22 pm #252213I think you must change the permission of dir to 777 before uploading by FTP or you can use JoomlaXplorer.
Bye!
June 5, 2008 at 9:26 pm #252215Images associated with the template are not contained within the media manager. You can, however, use an ftp transfer program outside of joomla to access these image files within your images directory. Then you should be able to replace them. I hope this helps get your logo on track.

Hi jstj,
You really do not need professional help for this:
Use FTP to access your files and folders in your JA Teline II directory (the one you installed)
Go to
templates => ja_teline_ii => images => logo.gif
The aforementioned route tells you how to find the default logo and where to place your own logo. If you have a gif creator,
1. create your own logo and rename it logo.gif
2. use FTP to upload the logo.gif you created in the directory indicated in the routeThe aforementioned FTP upload process, outlined above, will “replace” automatically the old logo.gif
You may have to refresh your browser and clean your cache (and refresh) to see the change. If this is not working, go to the images directory, remove the default logo.gif.
Refresh your browse and clean your cache (and refresh) to ensure that the old logo.gif disappeared.
After that, upload your new logo.gif using the FTP upload process outlined above.

Hi jstj,
The above procedure I outlined in
How to change the default logo with your own created logo
assumes you have a simple program to create a simple logo.
What if you cannot create a GIF image, i.e., “logo.gif” but could create say a JPG image, i.e., “logo.jpg“? or a PNG image, i.e., “logo.png”?
Then, go ahead and create the appropriate logo that you want. Upload it as indicated in my previous post above. Bow, you need to go to the CSS folder and find the template.css
templates => ja_teline_ii => css => template.css
find in the template.css the following:
h1.logo a
{
width: 278px;
display: block;
background: url(../images/logo.gif) no-repeat;
position: absolute;
height: 42px;
top: 20px;
left: 0;
}change in:
background: url(../images/logo.gif) no-repeat;
to for example:
logo.gif => logo.jpg (or logo.png)
I suggest you retain the generic name “logo” so that, if in the future, you decide to rename your site, you do not have to keep on accessing the template.css
Cornelio
Note: I prefer the “png” over the “jpg” because it seems to use less byte size and clearer than a jpg image.

A great way to find and manage your Joomla files is a component called JoomlaXplora

From my own experience, with any Joomla, it was sufficient to use the default permissions to access any files or folders via FTP. At least that is true with the servers I use.
