i cant delete some sections in admin

says cant delete as they have categories

when i try and delete categories

its says they contain records so cant be deleted…

what are records?

there are no content items under these categories so what does it mean by records?

why does this CMS have to be so complicated?

Its not that complicated really..

imagine your content imems are at the bottom then we get to your category then your TRASH you must also delete the trash.

After you have deleted everything from your trash manager, you should be ok to delete sections

ok i understand that, what im trying to do is add 2 new sections to my left navigation, then pages under them.

i added 2 new sections for these, with categories for each and pointed at left menu.

for some reason the pages i created for these showed up as a list of links. i just want the pages as content pages.

when i came to remove pages, (trash also) categories and sections, the 2 new sections still appear on the left menu. why? and how do i get rid of them. they link to a page that just says ‘you need to login to view this page’.

so i just want

a) to get rid of these left nav items that are showing (dont know how joomla is seeing them)
b) explanation how to add item to left menu with sub nav items underneath where the pages they link to have content in. i know it sounds a simple request but i cant find the answer anywhere, all tutorials seem to be on advanced stuff not the basics

You need to edit the menu items and remove the items from there.

ok thanks i found that, and had another go…
now i have learnt how to add the new items to left menu but cannot see how to have sub nav items?

ive created section – credit cards, category – credit cards, then a content item – credit cards and linked to left menu.

id like a new content item – choosing a credit card – to appear UNDER the credit card in the left nav, instead it appears as another menu level SEPARATE to credit cards.

i cant see how to do this, its as if i need to link to the category rather than left menu
