I downloaded, unzipped, and uploaded the files to the server. I notice that the unzipped files have a “Quickstart” sub-directory, but the quickstart sub-directory only contains another zipped file that appears to be the same quickstart zipped file that I have already unpacked and uploaded. I am confused – how do I install using quickstart?
I have installed joomla several times before, but I am not understanding what is supposed to be going on with this quickstart. I have already deleted a previous install because it appears that the quickstart was not used and the template was not set up the way it was supposed to look in the tutorial.
Please help
Thanks,

October 31, 2008 at 10:21 am #277640Hi rashan !
Please view : http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-install-joomlart-quickstart/ to consult about how to install quickstart package !October 31, 2008 at 12:52 pm #277653That was reviewed. It talks to unzipping one file – it is not clear. I need to get this up and running pretty much immediately – I need some information please.
Thank you
October 31, 2008 at 1:03 pm #277657The QS directions talk to unzipping a file on your local drive (which I did), then uploading, (which I did), then running the quickstart. My problem is that the QS sub-directory has one file and that is another zipped file in it – am I supposed to unzip that on my local pc and also upload to the quickstart sub-directory? I also noticed another zip file in the templates – does that need to be unzipped or will joomla automatically unzip that one.
Thank you

October 31, 2008 at 1:39 pm #277660download the file form JA
unzip into a folder on your local pc
there will be three folders,
one is named quickstartin that folder is the quickstart zip file that you upload to your server,
if you have Cpanel at your host, use that to upload it to your root directory,
then from cpanel expand the file
then go to your browser, enter your url and the install program will start, follow the prompts
October 31, 2008 at 1:59 pm #277664The original folder that I downloaded from your site and unzipped on my local PC had more than three folders, it had what looked like the regular # of Joomla folders, admin, components, install, images . . . quickstart.
I don’t have access to the cpanel – I am using FTP – I need know once this is uploaded via FTP to the site with the regular # of folders for a regular joomla install – how do I run quickstart – do I need to unzip the zipped file that is in the QS sub-dir and upload that into the sub-dir via FTP?
Thanks.

October 31, 2008 at 11:04 pm #277679whats your hosting company, you must have sometype of control panel, how did you make you database?
it looks like you unzipped the quickstart, and then you would not up load the directory, just the files in to it to your root folder.
you may also be at a host where joomla is just not compatible
pm me and i will help
