I have installed the QuickStart of JA Portfolio, Joomla 1.6 version. I am trying to make changes to the MegaMenu, such as the icons that appear next to the titles. The user guide for the T3 Navigation System makes this look pretty simple:
http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_Template_Framework/Navigation
It tells me to tells me to “navigate to Menus – Main Menu, and then we will click on Home to add an appropriate icon for it.” The guide then shows options appearing in the right hand column as follows: Parameters (Basic), Parameters (Advanced), Parameters (Component), and Parameters (System). Great, I need to make a change to the Parameters (System) settings, so this should be simple.
Unfortunately, when I go to Menus – Main Menu and then click on Home, the options I get showing up in the right column are NOTHING like the ones shown in the Guide. My options are instead: Layout Options, Article Options, Integrated Options, Link type Options, Page Display Options, Metadata Options, Parameters (JA Extended), etc. (see attached screen shot)
So, where do I go to find the menu options shown in the guide, and in particular the Parameters (System) settings and the other Parameters settings?

June 21, 2011 at 11:57 am #397628Hi,
The difference in parameters is there because you are using Joomla 1.6 and the documentiona image is from Joomla 1.5
To assign an image to your menu items, you can open the “Link Type Options”, in that you can select an image for “Link Image”. Once you do this you may need to change your menu css to fit the image correctly by the side of your menu item link.1 user says Thank You to himangi for this useful post
June 21, 2011 at 5:20 pm #397690Okay, I see that now. Basically, most of the same settings are in there in various places, just with completely different names to the options listings.
I have to say, it would be REALLY, REALLY helpful if the Guide simply stated, clearly, at the top, that it only applies to Joomla 1.5 and NOT to 1.6, and that 1.6 will look different. A simple notification like that would have saved me an awful lot of wasted time digging around. The Guide and all the links to it say “new” and “updated,” which is a bit misleading considering the fact that they haven’t been updated to cover Joomla 1.6. I don’t expect the Guides to already be re-written for 1.6 yet, but the simple addition of notice of this issue that there are differences would go a long, long way for 1.6 users like me.

June 22, 2011 at 3:51 am #397759Hi,
Glad your problem is solved. 🙂 As you said, it may not be possible to create a whole new guide with reference to the Joomla 1.6. I will pass on your request about the notices, to JA team, so that they can see what can be done to clear such confusion..
Please remember that adding an image to menu item is a jcore Joomla functionality and even if you find a guide explaining stuff with reference to Joomla 1.5, that functionality will be present in joomla 1.6, may be under different name and you may need to dig a little to find that.
