I have created a database in mysql databases in control panel but am unable to complete the final part of the quickstart process because the database information will not be verified appartently not matching,,,,,
could someone see why?

Did you fill in “localhost” at location?

Did you double check if you got name + password correct?

Is the localhost the ip address of the hosting server?
I am installing the package on BlueHost but I have to use their ip 69.89.31.249 since the original site http://www.millenniumchapel.org is still on another server.

I gave the localhost as 69.89.31.249

One problem is that when we uploaded the files, we had not created one of the following:
a) database
b) database user

Although these have both been created now, could that be the problem?

No that is not the problem.

But at database location you really have to fill in “Localhost” no ip adress and it should work.

so fill in:

Localhost
Databasename
Databasepassword

Thanks for all replies – will bear these in mind the next time I do a quick-start package installation.
This time, however, I decided to nuke the site and pay for a complete demo installation.
Thanks Joomlart for offering alternatives – sometimes it pays to hand over the job! 😉
