I’m building a website (or at least: I’m trying to) for a large organisation with Teline V.
I”ve read and re-read all the documentation but can’t find my way…

Basically: I’m stuck and don’t know where to begin. How should the JA-documentation be used best?
Our site can look just like the demo site, but with our own news and categories of course.
We don’t care to much about the look. We want to get our message(s) out to our members.

Any suggestions to get started are welcome.

    Thnx!

    Hi Werner,

Which part in our documentation is not clear? Let me know in details and share the credentials of your site so I can check for you.

    Hi Saguaros,

I’ve printed all the documentation from the site but it’s not clear in what order you should go through all of this…

I’ve installed the template without QuickStart Package, so I don’t have the demo site available (can that be uploaded afterwards?)

Do I work through the documentation on the webpage from left to right? Then I need to begin with the JA ACM modules…

Or do I start on the far right site, where it says "creating content"? And how then does the middle part fit it, where the lay-outs are treated.

What’s the best/most logical way to go about? The great thing about the demo site is the vast possibilities it shows. That’s why we bought this template. The problem with the demo site is… the vast possibilities it shows… You know: the wood and the trees dilemma.

I’ll provide you with the details for the site by a pm.

    Hi Werner,

I understand that as this is special template and there are so many configuration need to be set in order to have same look as demo site. That’s why we provide the quickstart with sample data so customers can installed and replace with their own content for demo content.

If you don’t want to use quickstart package and start from scratch. You can install quickstart package in your local so you can take a comparison and see how things are configured.

For which part should you start? it depends on your needs. For example, you can check out the Supported Layouts section, it provides details configuration for pages of Topbar menu: Magazine – Events – Videos – Gallery – Blog.

Let start with the Magazine – this is also the homepage:

    • Create menu item type
    • Create template style which is assigned to this menu item
    • Configure layout for this template style
    • Based on this layout, configure JA ACM module (different types) and assign to associated positions used in selected layout.

Do the same for other pages.

    I hope this makes senses.

    Hi Saguaros,

I’ve made some progress on monday & tuesday (resp. july 10th & 11th).
But I"ll give your suggestion certainly a try.

One question remains unanswered: can I still upload the demo site in some way?
Mind you: our provider installed the whole Joomla-package, with database and everything.
The template (without demo info) was uploaded in the usual Joomla manner…

If you want to have your site look like demo site with sample content, I’m afraid that you have to re-install again. As Quickstart installation is the same way as standard Joomla installation, the only difference is our quickstart contains sample content as demo setup.

    Hello Saguaros,

After a couple of days of focussing on the Teline template, I’m beginning to find my way around!

I’ve a question on the ACM Module "Magazine – Featured News", with style 1.
This style shows a slider with under it a number of intro-articles and to the right a block with "More News"

Would it be possible to replace this "More news"-block with the "Most read" block from the Category Listing – style 2?

I would like to show the "most read" articles next to the slider with the "spotlight" articles. This way I can group the "important" news next to the "popular" news.
The latest news (of all categories) can be loaded in the whatsnew-module in a very compact manner.
And all the other news from all the categories can be presented with a Category Listing Modules on pages dedicated to these specific categories.

The "More news" block doesn’t offer much of extra value, as such. It’s just, well… more news.
But there are other (and better) ways to present this more news (i.e. the whatsnew-box).

    Thanks for your advice!

    Hi Werner,

These 2 types of ACM module has different mockup / code, to customize the ACM New Featured module, you can edit this file: [root]/templates/ja_teline_v/acm/news-featured/tmpl/style-1.php
