September 11, 2008 at 8:58 am #133228Hi I downloaded JA Mesolite 3 days ago and can’t seem to install the quickstart package. This is what I have done
- Unzipped on local PC
- went to my CPanel and uploaded the ja_mesolite_quickstart_j15.zip to a subfolder created eariler
- Unpacked on the server
- started the install process via Firefox browser – got as far as FTP Config and it hung at the autofind ftp path.
- Went to the CPanel and deleted all the files and folders in the subdirectory – except the zip file
- Deleted the database I had created earlier
- Started again by recreating a db and unpacking the zip file.
- same problem
- deleted sub folder and deleted database
- created new subfolder and database
- unzipped the quickstart on local pc and ftp’d into the subfolder
- got as far as FTP Config and it hung again at the Autofind FTP path
Any ideas? Please?

September 11, 2008 at 9:21 am #270082Update : I managed to stop the process and got this error message
Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser client. You will not be able to install the application with this feature disabled. Alternatively, there could also be a problem with the server’s session.save_path, if this is the case please consult your hosting provider if you don’t know how to check or fix this yourself.
Cookies are definately on so i’ll check with my hosting provider. This is a real pain – upload speed is really slow (2.5 hours to upload the unzipped quickstart). If the host can fix the problem from their end, can anyone tell me what files I need to delete and replace rather than deleting the lot and starting again?
Thanks

September 11, 2008 at 10:31 am #270086Update – I think I can figure this out with your help. session.save_path is in a php.ini file.
In my latest webiste (in my sig) I don’t have a php.ini. On my old website, which I plan to update with this template, I do have one in the root directory. This is what it says:
; Handler used to store/retrieve data.
session.save_handler = files; Argument passed to save_handler. In the case of files, this is the path
; where data files are stored. Note: Windows users have to change this
; variable in order to use PHP’s session functions.
; As of PHP 4.0.1, you can define the path as:
; session.save_path = “N;/path”
; where N is an integer. Instead of storing all the session files in
; /path, what this will do is use subdirectories N-levels deep, and
; store the session data in those directories. This is useful if you
; or your OS have problems with lots of files in one directory, and is
; a more efficient layout for servers that handle lots of sessions.
; NOTE 1: PHP will not create this directory structure automatically.
; You can use the script in the ext/session dir for that purpose.
; NOTE 2: See the section on garbage collection below if you choose to
; use subdirectories for session storage
;session.save_path = /tmp
and this further down
; NOTE: If you are using the subdirectory option for storing session files
; (see session.save_path above), then garbage collection does *not*
; happen automatically. You will need to do your own garbage
; collection through a shell script, cron entry, or some other method.
; For example, the following script would is the equivalent of
; setting session.gc_maxlifetime to 1440 (1440 seconds = 24 minutes):
; cd /path/to/sessions; find -cmin +24 | xargs rm
Does anyone know if I can just copy the php file into the new directory folder?
I’m on php version 5.2.5

September 13, 2008 at 6:19 am #270290Doesn’t seem to matter what I do I can’t install this quickstart. The Virtue Mart components are there in the folder on the server (not via the Admin Panel)- they just won’t install. VM won’t install the database tables either.
After such a pleasant experience with Pyrite – this one is a nightmare.

September 13, 2008 at 10:10 pm #270351In the end I gave up on the template and downloaded the package from Virtuemart. I uploaded that to the server with no problems and installed the template. I really would have ilike all the sample stuff so I could see what I was doing but I guess I’ll really learn how to use it if I have to do it from scratch LOL
