March 1, 2015 at 7:58 pm #204239It seems as though some of the accounts on my site are unable to login using Internet Explorer. I’m doing an upgrade to Joomla 3 at the moment and whilst working on another issue this one has cropped up.
Login is working on Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari – it’s just Internet Explorer. I decided to rebuild the site virtually from scratch using Joomla 3 so one good thing is that the site isn’t “live” as yet. I even created a new account in the backend this morning to see if it was the accounts I brought over from the J2.5 version causing an issue, but IE would not allow login with the new account either.Out of 12 accounts created I can only get one to login with IE
The only thing that has been added that may affect login is Jomsocial, but as I said before it only appears to be IE.
At the moment I’m clueless as to what is causing the problem in IE.
As an update – another person tried logging in using the supplied user details but was only able to login using IE – so i am even more perplexed now

March 3, 2015 at 6:19 am #561342Hi @tastiger,
Could you please let me know which IE version are you using ? In addition, there are 2 login buttons : the first one is on top right of your site, right above Join Us button and the other one is below main banner in Social Stream page, which one should I try ?

Both give the same results – in terms of being able to login – the one at the bottom of the Jomsocial banner appears to be hard coded into the Jomsocial “home” page and it has not caused an issue on any other templates or Joomla 3 sites. The login at the top points to /index.php?option=com_users&view=login

March 9, 2015 at 8:44 am #562201Hi @tastiger,
I tried with default Joomla! template Protostar but still see the problem, please follow these steps below to check:
1. I have create a default Joomla! Login module and place it in position “position-1“. Normally, after you logged in, you will see the text “Hi @username” in this module.
2. Navigate to back-end >>> Menus >>> Top >>> Social Stream >>> in Template Style, choose Protostar
3. Open page http://your_site_url/j336/social.html and try to login

March 9, 2015 at 7:39 pm #562283Are you still unable to login?
Now I am able to login using all browsers including IE, even with the Social Stream page set back to University.
Can we establish what was / is causing the issue for future reference?
Perhaps I should round up some beta testers and see what results they get?

March 11, 2015 at 4:20 am #562514Hi @tastiger,
I tried to clear browser cache / cookies and managed to figure out the problem. If you navigate to quick and choose Cancel (see attachment screenshot), you won’t be able to login until you clear your browser Cookies >>> Refresh >>> you will see this dialog again and choose Ok.
