I’m pretty frustrated. I bought the ja_teline III template, which seemed fine, except the source files won’t upload for some reason. I don’t know what to do except maybe re-download the template and delete the one currently on my web space. Can someone out there please help me? I would love to use this template for work and would appreciate any help i can get. 🙂

    Hi,

The source files aren’t meant to be uploaded, they are just to allow you to customize the graphics in PhotoShop.

    Cheers,

    Jason.

    Hi,

No problem. All you need to do is delete your current site and upload the QuickStart file. Once this is uploaded, just install as you would a normal Joomla site and everything will be loaded and configured.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

    Jason.

    Hi,

In the zip file you downloaded there should be 3 folders. Extensions, Template and Quick start.

It’s the Quick start that you need and once it is uploaded and installed, Telline III will be your default template. You will need to delete your current site first though.

    Here’s a run through:

    1. Delete your current site and database
    2. Upload the Quickstart zip file to your server through cPanel
    3. Once uploaded, unzip the zip file through cPanel
    4. Go to your site address and you will be presented with the Joomla install screen. Click through the pages, following the on-screen instructions. You will enter your database details at this point.
    5. Once it’s all done, go back to your cPanel and delete the ‘installation’ folder.
    6. Enjoy your new site 🙂

    Cheers,

    Jason.

When you say “delete your current site and database”, do you mean delete my “ja teline” template and keep the other ones? or delete all 3 together? Surely you don’t mean I delete joomla….when you say upload the Quickstart zip file to my server, through cpanel, i’m not sure what that means…can i upload it using filezilla to my web space? is cPanel. i’m sorry you have to spell this out for me…..i’ve deleted joomla, reinstalled it, etc. by “server” do you mean my “web space”? i know how to unzip the fifle on my desktop…can i just unzip it there and then upload it to my web space? i can’t thank you enough…

    Hi,

Yes, to install a Quickstart package you need to delete Joomla altogether. The Quickstart is a full Joomla installation with everything pre-loaded to be the same as the demo.

Sorry, yes by server I mean web space.

You can unzip and upload by FTP, no problem.

    Cheers,

    Jason.

ok, i think i get it…cross my fingers..where exactly do i upload and unzip my zip file? is it where i have my index page?? the way i have it set up is i’ve got joomla folders. i’m assuming that in place of the folder i put in the unzipped file, quickstart. but then i have to change my destination folder, right? Thanks!:)
and also the ‘installation’ folder. and do i have to reconfigure the php to 5 instead of 4?

    Hi,

Yes, you need to upload the zip to wherever you want Joomla to live which is where you currently have the index.php.

You won’t need to change the PHP version when installing but it is a good idea to ensure you are using version 5.

    Good Luck! 🙂

    Cheers,

    Jason.

Hi, I am in the process of uploading the quickstart folder. i guess i just got confused about which folder goes where, so i uploaded the quickstart and pointed my destination to that folder. i just got confused also, because i wasn’t sure why to just upload one of the three folders….hope it works!

Perhaps you can help me. I am trying to make my Col1 and Col2 smaller than what it is now. Right now it is displaying too much text.

on this page (below) there are too many words.
    http://study2live.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=20&Itemid=514

but on the example template, there are fewer words per article.
    http://study2live.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=13&Itemid=457
    can you help me?
