Hi,
This might be obvious to some, but being quite new to Joomla it has stopped me in my tracks.
I uploaded the Sandine Light template and went to upload the zip files in the extension folder and can’t upload
cb_theme_sanidine_ii_j15
keep getting Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
Same problem with fb.theme_sandine…..
cb & fb – what is this? Modules, components or files to give headaches?
Any clue as to the should or should not’s involved with these. I want to use Community Builder, which I am totally new to, but what are these zips in Extensions and do I need them.
Cheers,

November 26, 2008 at 4:04 pm #280393If you are so new to joomla I would suggest you use the quickstart package.
the reason you are getting errors is because you are going the wrong way about installing the extensions. If you install the quickstart, the extensions are already installed.
November 26, 2008 at 4:25 pm #280399Hi Scotty,
The host I use has an automated install for Joomla 1.5 and normally it’s just a case of uploading the template and modules that I need. This time I thought to use the Sandine template because I need Community Builder and the layout fits my requirements.
All went well till I tried to upload the above mentioned files. The site modules need tweaking, but I don’t know the importance of the folders I can’t upload ( I know that’s bad). If all else fails I will use another template and install CB independantly. I downloaded the manual all 169 pages, found this template and thought it might cut a few corners.
How’s your Gaelic, mine is pretty restricted to non PC and really bad!
Cheers,

November 26, 2008 at 4:32 pm #280400lol… mines pretty bad too.
Do you have an FTP account for your hosting? FTP the sanidine quickstart zip to your web folder then unzip through cpanel and install via web browser.

November 26, 2008 at 4:59 pm #280405I personally never use the installs via cpanel. The majority of the time they are outdated and you are much better off learning how to install Joomla manually. This is especially true if you use a backup module like Joomlapack.
I would go along with scotty and say use the quickstart. Upload the file to your server via ftp, log into your cpanel, go fo file manager and unpack the file. Then go through the install. Easy, painless process and one worth knowing how to do.
November 26, 2008 at 5:47 pm #280407Thanks Guy’s,
Will tackle this tomorrow I think. It’s all to host a lot of Bull – literally!
I need to swap http://www.highlandcattleworld.com over to Joomla giving access to all the individual ‘Fold’ owners to edit their own pages. Community Builder looked like it could manage that and I thought to take a shortcut with Sandine having it ready installed.
Any advice on Template or Community module that would be more suitable greatly received.
