I can assure you I’m not new to Joomla. However,I’m having trouble figuring out what’s going on here and why.
When you click on ‘our services’ on the top menu it takes you to the ‘it-relocation-services’ page (http://www.technimove.co.uk/it-relocation-services.html a category blog layout with intro/descriptions for each article). At the bottom of this blog layout it shows individual article intros where you can click to visit the full article.
There is a dead link on this layout, the first intro linking to ‘Server Relocation Service’ page. It links to http://www.technimove.co.uk/server-relocation.html which is 404 but I think it should be linking to http://www.technimove.co.uk/it-relocation-services/server-relocation.html (which works). However the rest of the category blog article intros don’t include the category name in the url, but they link through OK.
I’ve now realised that if you access any of these articles from the main horizontal nav menu the urls include the category name (http://www.technimove.co.uk/it-relocation-services/pc-relocation.html) but they don’t include the category name when accessed from the category blog layout. So in addition to getting a 404 error for one of the articles form the category blog, I’m also probably being penalised in SERPs for duplicate content? (Although this isn’t being flagged up by Google Web Master account).
Both URLs for each article are ending up in the XMap sitemap (http://www.technimove.co.uk/index.php?option=com_xmap&sitemap=1&view=xml). Also noticed that the same thing is happening with the clients category, also displayed as a category blog layout!
So,
a) how do I fix the one article link in the blog that isn’t working, and
b) should I worry about the two different URL links to each article and duplicate content implications and if I should, how do I get the two links (one from main menu and one from category blog) to have the same URL?I’ve had this before years ago and can’t remember how I sorted it out – any ideas? I can provide admin access to staff if required.

March 29, 2011 at 9:04 pm #383890Firstly may I apologise on behalf of JA as your ticket appears to have been overlooked. It in not normal for tickets to take this long to be responded and JA are goin to investigate exactly why so this does not occur in future.
So the developers can swiftly follow up your problem could you please update your ticket with an ftp account and a Super Admin Logon. This way when the team at JA see your ticket tomorrow (Arvind is going to flag this one up urgently) they can investigate your problems quickly.
It would also be good to know if you are using any SEF addons as they can sometimes be the cause of problems such as these.

March 30, 2011 at 10:10 am #384022Only two cases are possible to cause this issue
1) Your Site has SEF Extension installed which is used to convert and redirect an original link to other link.
2) Or You modified code inside the htaccess file causing that link working incorrect. Please provide me FTP account and Administrator account Via Your Ticket ID RFK-874-41331 then let me check.

I’ve replied to the ticket several times but you seem to have gone again? I’ve provided FTP access and admin account.
There are no SEF extension other than standard/core Joomla SEF. The .htaccess file does have some 301 redirects added, but commenting these out does not resolve the problem.
