I have inserted a block with 2 columns that are 50/50.

How do I change them to 70/30?

    Hi
You can click on the settings and set the first column width to 9.
    See this http://prntscr.com/ezpxae
    Save and check.

    Hi
The option is in the spotlight block. when you are using block > type > spotlight you can change the width for the module positions, The other blocks are pre-style blocks in which you can select the no. of blocks

You can use custom classes on the container to define a width.
Example open the settings on the two containers see this http://prntscr.com/f05quh
Add col-lg-9 for one block extra css and col-lg-3 for other blocks to devide the grid size.

    Got it.

It might be a good idea to expand in the manual (unless I have missed it!) how to build a block from scratch!!
