October 9, 2008 at 7:05 pm #134230Hello,
I have changed the font colour in the central column and in some modules on the left, however cannot seem to find where to do this for the rest of them (members online, RSS feed display, Polls, Who’s online etc….these I cannot change.) Where should I be looking?
Thanks,

October 10, 2008 at 6:33 am #274562Hi Cindy
Follow this link to a must have tool, I swear by it http://getfirebug.com/. Firebug is Firefox addon developers tool that can help you make all the changes you want to make on the templates. Firebug is like a master card don’t develope without it.

October 10, 2008 at 11:56 am #274597Ok, here is a screenshot. It’s a faint difference, the original text is light grey (too light, to me). There’s more of it on the right column. The darker text I have changed. The modules listed above I cannot find in the CSS to change.

Hey, tell us some more, what else are mastercards and visa cards for development, but only those with a high limit…:D
Yes, please provide a short or long list of what “free” programs, not trials, limited shareware versions etc, are a must-be for good development!!!!
Thanks upfront!:)

Seems my site was hacked and has been down for some time as I rebuild from scratch.
I will soon be changing the font colour again and will have the same problem… don’t give-up on me 🙂

Cindy</blockquote>NEVER post an URL here in the forum, especially when the guys like Menalto and how they are all called ASK YOU FOR THE URL in public. This is the worst thing to do, this forum is NOT A BIT something like a secure cage where only good people hang around.
And what I see as even worse than that, Menalto and those guys who still want the urls, even mfcphil, DID NOT LEARN from that Menaltos site was hacked too and it was a topic in here and worst of the worst, he does not mind it.
As a user who is serious with the work I do and care also for those who mainly use a live site, could never be so negligent to first post a live site url here or even say I do not mind my sites being hacked.
My advice and the only right one, obviously. Sorry to say so, Menalto and mfcphil and all the others, strangely the big credti holders, I just can’t understand your ways at all. Even worse for those who can’t afford to lose a site as it can also cost ones job or position or money or accredibility. And so to say, seems you claim or have none of those to lose.
Thanks!

October 16, 2008 at 1:57 am #275521Thanks for the advice…which I already learned the hard way.
Yet moderators ask for URLs. You’d think they could look that up in private backend… and advise newbies about not posting a URL. And about the basics and seriousness of file permissions. These warnings should be built SCREAMINGLY into Joomla when you install and configure it.
As for the people you mention, I know nothing of specific people…except that what goes around comes around, and whatever “gain” perpetrators think they are getting is really a massive loss, –many times over the damage they cause.

Please stop asking any user for live urls, Menalto is not the only one whose site was hacked, now also gobeyond ones and honestly, I think it is because posting live urls here.
I also think it is not in the interest of Joomlart.com to probably cause loss to any member here, I think to ask for those via PM only is the way to go.
Thanks for your attention and regardless of this issue, I am still a satisfied Joomlarter!
Thanks!

I know them from seeing what they do and some short contact here in the forum and honestly this is not the way to go how they go…
Joomla is unsafe as you mention and there are tools like JDefender that shall avoid PHP infusions etc.. I even purchased this Addon and still want to install on my site but it requires some software on the server to function and I do not know if my host provides this or allows this.
“Security is a big concern for us” is written in the welcome text of Joomla admin but who cares, I suppose no one, it is simply costing money and most think they will never get harmed when not following the mentioned security guidelines. This can be true when one avoids posting urls or mentioning sites in public forums, at least a bit, as it takes away one possibility to be hacked.
The point is, I think most that have been hacked and had posted their urls here before, except the ones posted in signatures and other cases, but were asked for them or just posted them sometimes also even posted them only here, as they need the support for their site built with a Joomlart.com template and to say this might be from a google entry, is kind of abusing the coincidence factor as an excuse. Hackers mostly do it this way, via forums, to see how the people react later, like a TV Show etc…
My intention is not to scare or confuse you or anyone here. But, when you are in a forum like this, if if is Joomlart.com or any other forum, people become soooo negligent that they either post all their information right away…I mean all, I have seen people post their banking account information as it was part of the question. This was also in a Joomla Forum. What do you think hackers do, there are the ones that are serious criminals and only hack sites that are useful for stealing credit card information, banking account information in the combination with the names and adresses of the people. Than there are the ones that are serious idealists and hack whatever is against their way of living, may it be capitalistic sites like shops etc., or social networking sites that make too much profit from adsense in their sights and the ones that simply hack for fun and let it look like an idealists work.
Nevertheless, where do you think do they find urls, on google? No, it is much easier to simply join a forum, to even sign up and pay for memberships or to even hack their ways into a forum like this and all those components like Fireboard, VBulletin are know to be vunerabil to such intrusions. When in, they pick out the ones to be hacked as a lot are showing their urls right away, others are asked for theirs, again others post them negligently and mostly it is just simple unawareness of that is happening anyday, in nearly every forum, especially such link farm like the Joomlart.com or any other Joomla, Drupal, Mambo, whatever forum, one sees messages that members mention their sites have been hacked and when looking at their posts, they posted their urls beforewards. AND, the excuse that this is coincidence is truly untrue, as where else people post their urls, I think a lot of the Joomlart.com users are not posting their urls anywhere too. Some may do it anywhere, but most only when people ask and then it starts. Same with any other forum that has users that are loyal ones. To hack forum members sites comes with the nice fun to later see how the people react, like TV or so…
Again nevetheless, it is simply **** unimportant why hackers hack, with what intention in the first run, they just do and they are much emotional in picking out whom they hack the site. Either the one is playing big shot in the forum, teaching them kind of a lesson, are people with high intentions and always polite for being too conform, a joke etc., let it be because the one is a woman and to show their sickest kind of love, like I throw a stone against her because I fell in love with her, you know the stuff maybe from school or college and the same happens in the offices, the internet and anywhere, it is whether hate, financial gain, love or senseless just doing it. It is kind of a big stone against someone one loves.
