How I can change format date to european format ( dd mm aaaa) and language (pt_BR)?
Example:
Now is : Friday, Oct 16th
I need : sexta-feira, 16 de outubro

I just did that on Jomla 1.7 by escaping the characters with an

DATE_FORMAT_LC2=”l, d de F de Y, às H:i”

resulted in

Publicado Segunda, 03 de Outubro de 2011, às 16:43

Maybe I’m wrong, because n will escape to a line break, but who knows?
This worked for me so far.
