January 4, 2008 at 11:29 pm #235759Gentlemen:
Hold off the lawyer jokes please, but I am a Corporate legal counsel.
There is no doubt that Joomlart would ultimately lose any complaint filed against them over this matter.

January 4, 2008 at 11:32 pm #235760So what happened here? Did you decide on one template a month or no?
I would be happy to accept one template a month, and in return receive better support, a roadmap of planned templates, and fresh different J1.5 native templates…. starting with Teline and a community/phpbb version.antoniu1 Friendantoniu1

Well, we don’t want these things to come that far, would we? I don’t feel like taking those steps anyway. And by the way, we DO have great layers. π
I have been thinking about this and think the best thing would be to extend our membership with at least half a year. That would compensate enough for me. Provided that the support and quality goes up as promised.

January 5, 2008 at 2:05 am #235772Hi All,
First, this is the poll to receive the feedback and favorite trend of JATC and we haven’t made any decision about that.
Second, we do not have any intension to cut down the number templatesThird, if the change was made, we believe that we will not sastisfy some of the customers who prefer quality rather then quantity. Those you all know that It does not mean we work less or provide less benifit to users.
I would feel that it’s best we make a trial of about 6 months, if we fail to make you happier, we will refund or extent the subscription if you request us to do so.
I see the voting go for the change at the moment

January 5, 2008 at 2:42 am #235775hi Hung,
Thanks for answering. I absolutely understand that it’s not about working less. There are some things you might take into consideration:
If you are planning to go towards once a month, it isn’t fair to advertise with it right now. Even when you haven’t made the decision but only think about it like now, it isn’t the best thing to do. To be honest, I would feel really screwed if I would become a member and find that next week or month you go to one a month.
Also, this poll isn’t in any way representative. Gee, there are like 25 votes. You have almost 20.000 members!! When the votes reach about 2000, it starts to really tell us something.
My suggestion: send out a mailing asking for votes, based on the correct info that you would then provide in the mailing. After some time, send out another reminder to vote. This will help fill the poll and also get others involved in an honest way. After that, they have had their say and chance, I would say and you have been fair.
Cheers,
TomMichael Casha FriendMichael Casha

This is my first month as a JA member.
If you go to one template per month, and if the next template planned is not a Teline revision or full featured news portal, then please go ahead and refund the full amount of my membership.
If and when I see the news portal I’m after and the increase in quality you promise, I’ll rejoin.
January 5, 2008 at 4:25 am #235782All through the holiday season you have been advertising 24 in 12 months and even NOW you are advertising the same thing. You can’t induce people to buy one thing and then switch it to something else. There is a term for that and it isn’t legal.
If you change the terms you will open a big old can of worms!

Even though I use Quillaja (one of Teline variant) as my template of choice and might benefit from a serious revision of Taline, I believe JA made promise …

“@TeeTide and perdu
Your wishlist will certainly be implimented, I have not got a time frame but I believe it will be released in the first 3 release of 2008

… Certainly, we will hold JA to their promise regardless of the vote outcome.
I hope this doesn’t become an opportunity for a few to blackmail JA though. There is very little or nothing our courts can do in the international arena (the cyberspace). Integrity, honor and asking nicely works much better than the law.
Having said that, I think JA need to clarify…
1. How many people are responsible for the creation of the templates?
2. How many people are responsible responding to support questions?I suspect that the problem with the support is lack of people and not lack of time. One template per month will not solve the problem. It will be matter of time until we vote for bimonthly release if the real causes are not addressed. It is obvious that members do not participate in the forums and help each other out. Such situations create more pressure for small staff. JA have to come up with a great design twice a month and do customer support.
My suggestion:
1. Encourage member participation on the forums to minimize support from staff. Maybe give incentive to experienced members such as developers for answering support questions.
2. Expand at sustainable rate. JA now offers other services. The time spent on those new services might have been deducted from the club.
3. Review your business plan and don’t just go with the flow.
4. Send notification email to all members to vote for this changes. Implementing changes to the release without the consent from the members will create problems that will keep you away from your work.January 5, 2008 at 9:35 am #235787Hung

A lot of you who are moaning about the lack of support should read the terms clearly
9. SUPPORT: JA templates and products are delivered βas isβ, with no implied meaning that they will function exactly as you wish or with all 3rd party extensions/products. Further, we offer no support via email or otherwise for installation, customization, administration of Mambo/Joomla etc. Private customer forums are available at our Forums. JoomlArt.com does not commit to monitor these forums, but we reserve the right to respond and answer questions.
They don’t have to give you any support, but they do.
The Forum as I see it was originally set up so we could help ourselves.January 5, 2008 at 10:07 am #235789Mate if they make extensions with memory leaks I expect them to support it to the point of fixing it or removing it not just leaving it for 100’s more downloads!
I have seen many reasonable questions go unanswered, its not too much to expect

January 5, 2008 at 10:16 am #235790I think this will be a superb descision. At least 12 HIGH Quality templates with, if you guys have spare time, some bonus templates a year. For me this sounds perfect. π

I agree 1 quality template in Joomla 1.013 as well as suitable for Joomla 1.5 RC xxx with quickstarts for both and a decent instruction guide with tutorials is a far better use of my membership money than two hastily thrown together templates. Give Ja plenty of time to create a design from scratch, meeting the ever changing marketplace and we can be on a win/win situation.
I know we all signed up mainly for 2 templates per month etc But how many of the two per month were actually BOTH great innovative usable templates? very few. I applaud JA for listening to many people myself included ask for a 1 template with everything done professionally, no bugs etc solution
Cheers ShannonN
