i dont have a problem with one template a month. now with 2 versions of joomla to deal with. and alot more available with 1.5

the membership was not that expensive. i would rather have great artwork then just pumped out templates. there is alot of work that goes into making a template.

okay, they decided to go with one before we were told, mabey the work got ahead of them and they cant catch up. has that not happened to anyone. let them be.

Personally I’d prefer to see 1 good quality template per month that has been well tested for use with the most popular browsers and with functions that work than 2 not so good.

I think that it would be good business practice to compensate existing members that have signed up to receive 2 templates per month by extending their membership by an appropriate number of months.

I also think that there is little point or benefit from arguing the toss over this as it’s obvious that JA cannot currently cope with providing adequate support and produce 2 templates per month, therefore it is to our advantage to accept this move as hopefully the templates and support will improve and if members are compensated by increased length of membership then no-one looses.

Even if support or template quality do not improve there is little point in trying to force someone to create a top quality product if they can’t or simply don’t have the time.

No, I won’t “let them be” they asked for paying customer opinions and that is what they received. I would agree that they already made their decision before they posted, they probably just wanted to see how much business they would lose after the change. Will I pay the same price point for 50% less templates .. I don’t think so. According to their own stats in the last 30 days they have sold $43,552 in subscriptions not counting upgrades. Boy I would hate to be on a growth curve with subscriptions like that and not be able to hire more competent people to expand.

Personally, I’d much rather have one quality, usable template per month (that is easy to implement and doesn’t require hours of tweaking) then two sub standard templates (I’m currently finding one template about every three months that I find usable).

I can understand why people aren’t happy though – we did sign up with the promise of 24 templates over a years subscription so I think it’s vital that subscriptions are extended to deliver this promise. I’m no legal expert but if I bought MS Office where on the box it said ‘contains a Word processor’ but then found out it didn’t actually contain Word then I’m pretty sure I’d be fully within my rights to demand a refund.

How can this discussion be about “quality or not”? That is not the point. The point is: Two quality templates, as promised, or only one. It’s supposed to be quality already.

Somehow some of you started to think that it WILL be low quality when it remains two templates. And then respond from that angle. That is why now more voted for one per month. Not very smart.

If it went to one template a month would that mean I would get my question answered?

With the exception of some members here trying to be helpful, and seeing the works they created, nothing else has really impressed me about this “club”.

The templates are ok. If you have a question good luck. Although honestly, it was cheap enough to risk it.
Anyone who has worked with other templates know for this membership fee that will buy you one maybe two really good quality templates that are very well supported. So how much in the end should 70 dollars buy you?

However, the frontpage of the site (one would think while you are playing the deciding game you would make it clear to those who might join in progress) it states 2 templates per month. Those templates are supposed to be quality templates yada yada. So for those that think less will get you the quality you expected from the beginning, it should have been all along.

If you do cut the number of templates to one, are you prepared to issue prorated refunds to those who signed up for the 2 template deal?? Will there be a reduction of the membership fee to half, since half of the product will be provided? I don’t forsee any better support coming from half the quantity, as you will still have the same number of people having questions or issues. Not everyone may want additional time added on.

Personally, if you feel you have room to improve, then find a way to do it, while keeping your agreement with your customers. I’m in a different category than many that use this site as I don’t want or need alot of templates. I am trying to currently build one site, made the decision good or bad to do it in joomla, and then that is it. I think if I were wanting or needing additional templates like others, I would be miffed, and moving on.

There is many things that we are working on(me, MICCAS and two others), but to change the whole system in one day wont happen, it will be to much work for that. But improvement is on the way. We(support team)just need more information and more power to take descisions on whats needed or not.

I think this post is both good and bad to read, but there needs to be improvement anyhow if there is one template a month or two.
As i can see it i would have done many changes to the templates the way they are buildt up, things just dont work and that needs improvement. And most of the times its the same bugs.
When it comes to the new Joomla 1.5 templating gonna be way more easy(if they are buildt up correct from the ground, and if you understand/have the knowledge).
As stated above, if Joomlart earned $43,552 in the last 30 days it shouldnt be money that stops them from hire more people;)
Anyhow, i remember when nerine was released, KISS(keep it simple stupid), from my point of view its true, you can make outstanding templates that works without all this javascript etc packed in the templates.
We all need templates that works…

I think this situation could be quickly solved extending the submission period for all the club members. Everyone would be happy (or, at least, not unhappy).

I support 1 per month if the quality is improved.

I changed my post. I just joined and have not tried any of the templates yet. I think I should try them first before making a judgment about quality etc.

The templates LOOK beautiful and have many useful extensions. I hope I can make the extensions work in other templates – sort of a mix and match. I will find out.

I have read where some here say the templates work fine. Some have said they had to tweak and some complain they are not supported well. All I can say is that the other template club I joined had support but I really didn’t like the design. I don’t mind working on the code since I have been doing HTML, Javascript and CSS for years. I have a programming background. I also have all the Adobe and Fireworks software.

I expect to have to modify myself for the price.

I am fine with one template per month and would like to see the extensions separate so they can be added in different templates. The Photo galleries look great! There are all kinds of goodies here that would be nice to be easily loaded as a component or module to another template so you can have them all in one. They look and behave beautifully in the template demos.

Anyway, I apologize for my earlier comments. I was not feeling well so grumpy (tummy flu) I will test them out and able to give more accurate comment.

So far, the look of the templates are great and they look very useful for what I am doing. The price for ONE template at other sites that I won’t mention would be $30-$70.00 or more so I am not complaining.

    Thanks,

Teline works just fine, see my site http://www.oregonsgolf.com. The bulk of the problems that you will read about lie with the JA News Module. But with a little patience and taking the time to read the forum you WILL find the answers. The answers are all here it is primarily new members that complain because they don’t really try to search the forum for those answers. The support issue is another reason for the complaining as it is not as good as some other template clubs but at the same time the support really was never promised here. Welcome to the JA Templates Club! 😀

    Hi Pamela,

Even though I am strong here with my opinion, as an old member of JA, I can say that they mostly DO work fine. I have had some problems, but they were mostly with components like Ja news and Ja slideshow. Small things JA forgot sometimes and so I had to set some things a pix left or right to align stuff, etc. I have used many templates the past years and do not agree that they are problematic at all. Shere have been some bugs, yes, but not the end of the world bugs. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Tom

Sounds like things work better than I thought. Good to hear that. the other template company has problems with some of their extensions too and templates as well but they do answer questions on the forums. Glad to hear it is minor and only a few extensions mainly. Moving something a pixel or so is nothing for me to worry about.

The Designs here are beautiful and very practical. At least I won’t have much to do to modify them at all.

    Thanks,
    pamela

    Hi All

like few members says already, less template less chance to find a fitting template.

but up to the correct subjects that is in the Thread , I agree with one big request :

make the the template with suitability to RTL or an RTL version!!!!

    Thanks

I also think you should go to 1 per month but upgrade the quality od the templates in terms of compatibility with components, cleaner code, seo, features like extra modules, etc.

“The only older template I want to see reused is Teline. in fact, I wish this month’s template would be a new variant of the Teline template. Kind of a Teline II, like Rockettheme did with their Versatility template.

PLEASE issue a Teline II template for the mid-January release.”

I must give my second vote to this.
