I would like to know if its possible to change the background color of the whole top menu area from black to white and add an image?

I have attached a picture to try and describe what I would like to do.

To change the color of your header from black to white . . . .

Follow file path –> /templates/ja_orisite/css/template.css

at line 987, you will see the following:

<blockquote>#ja-header {
background-color: #0a0b0c;
}</blockquote>

modify as follows:

<blockquote>#ja-header {
background-color: #FFF; }</blockquote>
