Hi,

need some advice on this as i am still quite new to joomla. Say i am using erica now and want to change my design to ores is there like any magic button where i can import all my articles over 😉

if not would the following process be correct:

1. create httpdocs/new folder
2. extract quickstart to /new
3. go to http://www.mywebsite.com/new
4. install joomla
5. login and copy and paste my articles over 1 by 1
6. back up all files on /httpdocs onto cpu and delete them
6. copy files in /new to /httpdocs

Would this steps allow me to change my site design without much downtime?

No no my friend.
1. create httpdocs/new folder
2, copy all files folders from httpdocs/ to httpdocs/new folder
3. Creat new database name user name.
4. goto phpadmin export database of live site and import to new database.
5. Open httpdocs/new folder/configuration.php file and changes to new Database name…
changes path of Log folder and TMP too.
6. Installation Ores on New website: http://www.yourdomainname.com/newfolder as a independent website.

Another way you can Use Backup Component then move it to another host or your Localhost.
