May 12, 2011 at 12:45 am #163891To Joomlart Staff,
I only use one template for the most part. If I want variation then I modify the same template. By the time I am done with the modifications, it would no longer look like the original template.
In this sense, and especially for an e-commerce site, I would need only one Magento template. Right now, I am starting with the JA Mesolite II kit, because it is tried and tested to be robust and stable.
However, I heard some good things and some bad things about Magento. To paraphrase Steve Ballmer: “More than $12,000 (for an enterprise subscription) … and you know the rest for Ballmer’s derision of the first iPhone???
Everything else is hearesay though, until I try it myself. So, I am considering the Single (template) Developer $200 plan. To summarize:
Lifetime (whatever that is, must be written in black and white)
Unlimited domains (see below)
Full support (real support?)Questions:
What is the Joomla version in the QuickStart kit of Joomla-Magento templates?Does each Magento subscription — based on the Single (template) Developer plan — have access to all the Magento extensions? Right now, it seemed certain (extensions) features are used only in particular Magento templates. For comparison RocketTheme offers all their Magento extensions to all their Magento templates (at much lower price).
And, since it is a “lifetime” offer, does the lifetime definition also apply to all Magento extensions? and upgrades of the Magento template?
Further, since it is a “lifetime” offer, will the access to support for the chosen template also be lifetime?
Is the support for Magento comparable or better than Joomlart templates? If it is comparable to Joomlart template then it is terrible, based from my experience the past few years. Considering the price per Magento template, I expect the technical support to be so.
I hope this is the case because my idealized Magento template borrow layout features and extensions that are found in various Joomlart Magento templates. Thus, I expect to be able to modify whatever Magento template I buy, with more active support from Joomlart staff (not just members or moderators) to help resolve issues that may arise.
Since the rights to the template is lifetime, then there is no restriction also to accretion in domains where the “lifetime” template is used.
The lifetime feature is critical because from my experience with Joomlart since August 2007, no Teline template has ever been stabilized within a 3-month period. In fact, the Teline IV template still has quite a number of unresolved issues.
And, for the price could you throw in a more professional looking customize log for the site? I already have the preliminary design.

May 12, 2011 at 10:46 am #390945Hi,
I would like to answer your questions in bold one by one as follows:
Questions:
What is the Joomla version in the QuickStart kit of Joomla-Magento templates?
Please clarify in more details for further help as i am not clear what your question is.
Normally, for each Joomla template or Magento theme, we do provide two installation packages:1. Quickstart package: This will help you to install a fresh joomla/magento site with template and built in extensions as demo site.
2. Template Installer package: if you have a joomla/magento site already and you will install this package via your website admin and then create all contents from scratch and install extensions separately.
Does each Magento subscription — based on the Single (template)
>> Yes, for single theme, we have Magento Single Personal Membership lifetime & Magento Single Developer Membership lifetime. Both type of membership allow you to use only one Magento theme. However, with Magento Single Personal Membership, you are entitled to install one Magento theme on one licensed domain + can not get our copyright removed/edited and you are entitled to install one Magento theme on unlimited licensed domains + get our copyright removed/edited with Magento Single Developer Membership permission.

>> For all Magento extensions of all Magento themes, there are 2 options for you
1. Magento Developer Membership 3 months.
With this, you can download all Magento themes/extensions but you are not allowed to remove our copyrights and install our themes on 01 domain only.
2. Magento Personal Membership 3 months

>> Yes, absolutely. May 12, 2011 at 6:48 pm #391005Thanks JA Developer,
I am only interested with the Magento Single Developer Membership. I only need one teemplate that I must be able to modify to suit any type of e-commerce. To summarize your response, if I get the Magento Single Developer Membership, I will have the following privileges and access:
- Select only one template — can remove any visible Joomlart icon and copyright
- Install the selected Magento templates in unlimited number of licensed sites
- Lifetime access to all Magento extensions — old and new ones that may be developed in the future
- Lifetime access to support.
If I have to choose one Magento template, the choice would be the
JM Galaxite
http://www.joomlart.com/demo/#magento-themes.joomlart.com/jm_galaxiteQuestion:
Is the latest JM Galaxite Quickstart kit using the latest Joomla 1.6.x or Joomla 1.5.xx? Or both?In another forum thread, I outlined the reasons why I like JM Galaxite:
My idealized (optimized) Magento Template
May you please respond there also, if during a lifetime access to upgrades and stellar support from Joomlart staff, and access to all the Magento extensions, will I be able to create my My idealized (optimized) Magento Template?
To be more specific, if I decide to select
JM Galaxite
http://www.joomlart.com/demo/#magento-themes.joomlart.com/jm_galaxiteone of the features that I would change immediately is what appears to be the same static Spotlight (whole width page) image at the top. [Who wants to see the same image everytime one visits a site?]
Thus, to resolve the above flaw in a very elegant design like
JM Galaxitewill my access tp Magento extension, like the
JM Slideshow
allow me to create a more dynamic slideshow at the top, comparable to the frontpage (Spotlight) slide shows found in
JM Mopanis
http://www.joomlart.com/demo/#magento-themes.joomlart.com/jm_mozanisIt does not seem to work in the Demo, but the Spotlight slideshow there includes a “Read more” — I assume, in a working site, if you click on one of the slideshow images, it should lead you to a featured product article?
There are more changes I would do to my chosen template, like
JM Galaxiteand I outlined my initial ideas in
My idealized (optimized) Magento Template
Some other modifications would be similar to the more recent posts I had in the
JA Mesolite II forum
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/forum/ja-mesolite-ii/Thanks to khoand, the proposed layout changes I requested were achieved. The resulting modified JA Mesolite II would be more dynamic and will entice site visitors to explore articles and products that would not be possible with the Demo JA Mesolite II template.
Cornelio
N.B. And, if Joomlart will create the different logos, based from the design I provide, I am ready to buy the Magento Single Developer Membership with the
as the chosen Magento template.

May 14, 2011 at 10:19 am #391210Yes however, regarding your questions: Is the latest JM Galaxite Quickstart kit using the latest Joomla 1.6.x or Joomla 1.5.xx? Or both?
I would like to make clear that our JM Galaxite is Magento theme and it runs on Magento platfrom version 1.5.0.1 not Joomla platform. That’s different templates.
For your reasons outlined in thread ‘My idealized (optimized) Magento Template’, i have forwarded to our dev team for getting exact answers, please wait.
Thanks.

Thanks JA Developer,
I thought it was Joomla because there is Magento Bridge for Joomla. How does the JM template behave differently from a Joomla-Magento extension (bridge) in terms of funcitonality? and ease of use?

May 17, 2011 at 8:25 am #391573To Joomlart Staff,
I hope the issues I raised will be answered soon, so I could order the Magento template. I would have just over a month to learn a new platform, as well as make the changes. It took me more than three months to make a decent site with the Telines, and I have been using the Joomla CMS for years.
I have to deecide whether to stick to Joomla templates or try the new Magento soon.

June 13, 2011 at 7:06 am #396032Hope this helps:) I surprised myself and got my Magento site up and all functions working superbly over one weekend. I have been intimidated by Magento forever. I regret not learning it earlier. I am not suggesting that you should wait to learn it last minute for your project but if you know joomla, Magento should be super easy. Be sure to find the right server though (I am using http://www.elief.com) and it runs great. The http://www.magentocommerce.com knowledgebase section is great; just search and it is there, step by step.
All the best. Michael 😎June 14, 2011 at 4:36 am #396204@JA Developer 240414 wrote:
Yes however, regarding your questions: Is the latest JM Galaxite Quickstart kit using the latest Joomla 1.6.x or Joomla 1.5.xx? Or both?

As far as I know, JGQ is compatible with both Joomla 1.5 and 1.6.
Whenever, any integrations/developments are done, backward compatibility is always important and essential.June 14, 2011 at 4:46 am #396206Please let us know, if anyone also had any issues in compatibilty.
Thanks!
