I would love to see something like this as well. The thing is, JA designs templates that can serve a multitude of purposes – as opposed to a specific purpose. As such, it is unlikely that JA would create “classified ads” specific template.

I do know that there are a couple of Classified Ads components out there – the best (in my opinion) being one called “Marketplace.”
You can find it within the Joomla Extension listings.

I didn’t think MarketPlace was 1.5 native yet? Will have to do some Googling!

Another decent classifieds extension is ‘SOBI2’, which I’ve used on a few sites with no problems.

That’s not very customised, pretty much as it came out of the box! Also, I’m using it on this site as more of a ‘Directory’ set of listings rather than class-ads, but I think it could easily suit.

I’m also using it on a Telline III site which is currently under construction (hopefully be launched in about three weeks).

I saw it a few weeks ago on a real estate site, the guy had done an amazing customisation of it (photo galleries, etc., in the listings).
