January 5, 2013 at 2:31 am #478480Hi andrewwinkler,
I do not really understand what you need.
If you want something like this screenshot, then it will be easy.
http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/504/6319031941.jpgHere how to do with Hot item.
1. Open menu item in edit mode
http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/504/3148350312.png2. Add a class ‘whot’ to Link CSS Style field (in screenshot, you should see ‘hilite’)
3. Open /templates/ja_wall/css/navigation.css and add this block code to the end of file.
#mainnav .menu > li > a.whot::after {
background: #C00
color: white;
width: 17px;
height: 11px;
display: inline-block;
content: "hot";
line-height: 1;
font-size: 10px;
font-weight: bold;
padding: 1px 3px;
border-radius: 2px;
margin-left: 5px;
top: -5px;
position: relative;
}Save all, clear system cache and browser cache then refresh the page.
For New tag, you can do the same, just change class name and add a new CSS rule.
Regards

January 7, 2013 at 6:37 am #478659I was hoping that these kind of green, red and blue tags would come with the template as they did with the JA Social template. Obviously they are very useful features, irrespective of the template, and I don’t like having to customise the template because it makes upgrades harder.

January 7, 2013 at 11:45 am #478718Hi andrewwinkler,
JA Wall is just a template. And each template has it now style.
So it would follow the concept design.
We can not provide and prepare for all styles that you need. We are sorry about that.🙂

January 15, 2013 at 2:25 am #479733I understand that each template has its own design/style, however features like ‘new’ and ‘hot’ tags next to a menu item are needed in EVERY template and therefor should be part of EVERY template provided by Joomlart. What is more, as a template provider you should reduce the need of customers to make changes to the template to a minimum, because they have to repeat the changes every time they upgrade the template to a newer version. Does that make sense?

Well Andrew, lets be clear on this, what is shown in Demo is what you get and is supported, we try to improve based on user feedback but its not always possible to accommodate each and every request. The concept for each template is different and is coded differently and lets face it, its not possible to provide each and every functionality in each and every template.
We will think of adding these common typography tags into the T3v3 framework in the coming months but for JA wall, it would be difficult to commit at this moment.
For updating the template, you should use the JA Extensions manager, it lets you see each and every modified file and also allows for moving the customization from the modified file to new file, not to mention the rollback feature. Please give it a try, it was developed to make the version upgrade easier.
