I have been using Teline II for a while now and it usually works like a charm, thank you!
One thing that has been bugging me ever since I started is that I sometimes ends up, after inserting a new news, with messing up my columns in the front page or in a news section (see attachment).
I guess this has to do with the number of characters set in the JA New Frontpage…?
I add a picture to this post how it can look like when I try to add a news with many caracthers and more then one (1) picture in the news.
Can anyone explain to me how to set the char number, what they do and where I should edit,.. any hints that can help me. I am getting editors to my site and its kind of starting to get a big problem.
Thanks in advance
Johanneshov

March 4, 2009 at 5:13 am #294351Hi Johanneshov
This happened to me last week when one of my Editors published a new article. It messed up the whole front page and pushed columns ‘left’ and ‘right’ to the bottom of the page, under the footer!
As it turned out, she’d pasted some text into the article from MS Word. I edited the article using the HTML Editor and found all sorts of strange HTML tags in there. After I removed them all, I republished the article and the front page was fixed.
Maybe check that there is no strange tags in any recent articles (unpublish them one by one until you find the culprit!).
Also, best advice to your Editors is to take any text from Word, paste this into Notepad first, and then copy from notepad and paste into the Editor. This seems to make the code much cleaner and causes far less problems.
Hope this helps!

Anyhow there is only a couple of <p> </p> and >img>-tags should be any problem with that I guess. ?

March 4, 2009 at 6:29 am #294357Generally the <p> and </p> tags are fine. As are the <img> tags. It’s the over stuff, in particular <div> tags seem to cause quite a problem!
Glad I could assist and I hope your front page is fixed!

March 4, 2009 at 7:50 am #294361Hmm the problem is still there… and it is there when I insert a picture to the text.
However I inserted a “Read more break…” after some lines of text and voila the front page turned up fine again.
I guess this has to do with the number of characters I set in the JA New Frontpage module.. could it be so. Just curious, looking at your Teline II site.. what char-number do you have, do you need to insert read more breaks?
thanks for your help!

March 4, 2009 at 10:57 am #294385Hi johanneshov
I always place a ‘read more’ in every article, usually after the first paragraph. If not, things can easily get broken! 🙂
Here’s my setting for the two modules:
1. JA News:
2. JA News Front Page:
Hope this helps!
