The quick and dirty way is to add:
background-color: #121212; – creates a black background…but use whatever color code you need.
to either [FONT=”Arial Black”]template.css @ line 909[/FONT] or [FONT=”Arial Black”]layout.css @ line 66[/FONT]
This may or may not be what you are wanting…as only the area where modules reside will get the colored background. To give the appearence of colored columns…no matter of modules…youll need to create a custom background for the template with the color in the areas you want. Your template will also have to be of a fixed width. If you’ve ever changed the background on your Twitter account…it works similarly.
