I’m wanting to use JA Comments, but I do not like threaded comments at all. I can easily get rid of that. I also want comments to display by date only. In other words, if you have threads off and you reply to a comment the reply is posted right after the comment you replied to. I want that comment at the bottom. An example ordering would be something like this:

1. Posted 5 hours ago

2. Posted 4 Hours ago

3. Posted 3 Hours ago

4. Posted 2 Hours ago

5. Posted 1 Hour ago

And so on. The way it seems to work now is that if the 4th comment is in reply to comment 1, it would be posted immediately after comment 1. Surely there is a way to force this.

I also don’t want the option to hide replies. And I’d prefer that all replies contain the quote of the comment being replied to. Even if someone replies to comment 1 and it’s the 300th comment, I want it displayed last and I want that comment to contain the quote from the 1st comment. I know there are reply and reply with quote buttons, but I really just want one button (reply with quote) and I don’t want the hide replies option.

Surely something as advanced as JA Comments can act like a traditional commenting system. How do I do it?

Also, when I have show child comments selected, they still don’t show after I’ve been away from the site for awhile. All of the comments are not showing up even when I select the hide/show button. This is very frustrating and it’s the one thing about Joomla that I hate.

As far i can see your needed requirements will need some customized of JA Comments 🙂 Because core code is not ready for all.
