Hello, my name is dutton and I am new to Joomla 😀
I have a few questions that I will be posting but would first like to start with the commenting system.
I see there Disqus and IntenseDebate and the other option. All of which I do like especially Disqus. My questions though for Disqus is what if they ever start charging for the use of their system? I suppose we would lose of of our comments if we did not elect to go with them?
Also, since there is a user registration option for all users within Joomla (one that I do think I will use for newsletters and eventually forums), is there an option for just using their registration details if they are logged in to post comments? or they would need to register to post comments?
Like I said, I do like Disqus, but I just do not have to step backwards as my site grows.
Thanks for the advice.

As regards commenting component (system) I prefer to use Joomla installed component – JCommnets. It has the feature of usage registration details (also remembers not-registered users by cookies).
May 21, 2010 at 12:27 pm #344269Suddenly JA Comment Plugin with intensedebate throws an error on every page with this plugin.
Disabling JA Comment Plugin or changing Comment Provider to Disqus
and that error disappears. Anyone experiencing similar problems?Anonymous ModeratorJA Developer

Really appreciate your patience.
May 24, 2010 at 6:00 am #344507IMO intensedebate introduced some changes which resulted errors. Changing the language in intensedebate helped somewhat. I understand they got rid of the bad code so the problems gone.
