October 30, 2009 at 5:40 pm #145643Anyone out there that uses community builder with a photo gallery that allows users to create/manage their own galleries? If so what are you using?
I’m thinking of putting together something along the lines of a family site for my mother so she can share her recipes, photos, and so forth with family and friends. I’ve been on the hunt for good components to accomplish this task.

Hello,I have been using JoomGallery for the same, but it is buggy. I mean its ok but there are things that are very basic but you cannot control them.
For example :
1. While uploading you can upload multiple images, but you only get 1 input field for the name 🙂
2. The navigation is really bad. Go to user control panel > go to categories > create new album. Then go to galleries, and then upload new images.Other than these 2 basic, but most important things, the extension works fine. No problems at all.
You might also try Coppermine Gallery with the CB bridge built by Mehdi. I want to test it, but havnt found the time to do so.

November 5, 2009 at 3:29 am #322601I almost went with joomsocial but ended up using CB + Joomgallery. Joomgallery does have a lot of functions but could use some tweaking. Nice full functional gallery for being free though.

Hello,That is a great combination. Though i would tell you be careful if you are building a community site, because ppl find it very difficult to upload photos from the frontend. You should probably right a small into on how to upload photographs.

March 10, 2010 at 10:37 am #335611You can also use Nants CB gallery, though it requires legacy plugin to be enabled but It’s a great gallery for CB.
March 10, 2010 at 12:45 pm #335626I wanted to use Joomla Gallery too, thanks for the heads up. I will try and combine it with CB too.
