i am new to joomla and just downloaded the communty plus quíckstart file for xampp.

now i just read about the new joomla 1.6 version and some of its advantages.Probably it would be better for me to use the latest version of joomla. So i do not know both of it, so why not learn the new one directly.

i know the 1.6 version is brandnew but i guess from the empty 1.6 download folders, that you´re upgradind the latest templates.
if so, when will be the 1.6 quickstart version from community plus ready to download?

    thanks for answering!

Soon ia sll I can say. As I am sure you can appreciate, Joomlart have a huge catalogue of templates to upgrade. The firts to be completed with of course be the latest ones based upon the JAT3 V2 framework and fortunately JA Community+ is based on that framework. As an when they are released there will be announcements made. Already a huge number of the availabe JA extensions are now released for Joomla 1.6, the templates will follow in time.

On that same note it wi worth waiting a little while anyway. As of today only around 100 of the thousands of available extensions on the JED (http://extensions.joomla.org/ – Joomla Extensions Directory) are available for Jomla 1.6. As such many of the things you may want to do with your site may just not be possible at the moment. So give it a few weeks to settle down and in the mean time get to know Joomla 1.6. By then you will be ready to start building your new site.
