Hello Everyone!

I’ve just signed up for a year and must say, having flicked around the forum, I’m very happy I did!

Here is my very first post, which will quite possibly drive everyone here crazy as I’m a total newbie to this. I’m sure I’ll be asking real basic questions that have already been answered on several occasions!

My background is in ‘print’ rather than ‘internet’ so this will be quite a challenge for me and I hope I can muddle through the setting up of a Joomla site with your assistance. The whole intention is to take our current ‘printed’ monthly magazine and put this entirely onto the internet (print costs are crippling us!), hence my joining as the JA Teline template looks perfect for porting our magazine to the internet.

OK. So first up …

Before I even download Joomla and try to install it, I’ve created a quick ‘mock up’ of how I would like our front page to look, basked on the Teline II Template. I’ve put this here:

If somebody could kindly take a quick look and tell me, before I even start, if this is an achievable layout?

Also, the banners and advertisements on the right need to load on every single page (home page, section page, category and article levels).

If this looks to you folks with more experience than me to be achievable, then I’ll be off to try and install Joomla, install the template, set up the SQL database and then I’ll be back with a lot more questions!!

Install the quick start package and you are almost done with your layout. Then you can start to delete and add things while you get to know how to work in the joomla backend

I will now download and ‘try’ to install Joomla 1.5 and the Template now!

I’m sure I’ll be back with lots more questions!
