Anyone having trouble installing components under the Joomla 1.5.9 Pyrite Quickstart package?
The installation of the package itself went fine. Did all the usual things:

– setting directory permissions
– configuring ftp layer
– check tmp directory path in config.php

The following happens:

From the admin install interface I point to the component install zip file and click install. After a while the page reloads to /administrator/index.php but is completely blank. When I reload again It will load the admin menu startpage but nothing appears to have happened. No feedback about the installation whatsoever.

I can see on the server that it has uploaded some files and folders to both the administrator/components and /components directory, however no new component menu entry shows up under ‘components’ in the admin menu.
I have tried several different components and even made a completely new installation on a different server but the same thing happens!

Server info: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE-p4
MySQL version: 5.0.67
Php: 5.2.6
Apache 1.3.41
Memory (24Meg)

Anyone have any suggestion?

I think this issue from the media folder. This folder and its files are not exist.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion but that was not the issue. I do have the media folder and the permissions where set correct.

However this morning I managed to overcome the issue by turning of the FTP layer. Apparently there is some problem with that. Now extensions install correctly again!
