Greetings Joomers,
here’s a concept…
- Member forums here are very active, with a broad range of experience & skill; especially evident, is a proven willingness by many to help other community members
- Template demo pages have a great deal of info, most have some of the instructional content from the corresponding User manual .pdf published in the various sections & categories.
- JA tutorials are some of the top rated in the Open Source community
- would it be possible to organize all this info by adding a wiki to the JA site? … possibly right on the demo pages, user permissions could be granted for groups/members with proven skill working with the JoomlArt templates
- a world class joomla template club should/could = world class support
What do you think Joomers? any support for this idea? there is a pretty good OpenWiki
available from Joomla Pro SolutionsAre there members that would be willing to help by working on this wiki?
The template demos could be full of info (ie. less “greek” text) regarding their use, with lots
of samples & code available- so members could easily cut & paste
to get the function & then modify to suit their sites; meanwhile the wiki
could have info shared from users experienced with JA & the template in questionWith good use of instructional graphics (screen shots, etc)
& links to/from threads in the forums–a lot of the communities’ knowledge
base could be tapped & put to good use by all members & JA, as well.less time spent answering the continous cycle of redundant questions
= more time for development of the brilliant templates that brought us all here
in the first place.just sharing a thought, maybe this is impractical…any feedback??

February 21, 2007 at 3:55 am #214805Although I am new around here, I try to help out when I see a question I can answer. I would do the same in a wiki format, plus it is really needed.

February 22, 2007 at 7:46 am #214837I totally agree to this. As long as this is memberbased it will be an incredible asset to the Joomlart website and templates. I think that most members here will agree that even though the support has been a little up and down, the community here is excellent ( in fact I feel that I get more support and help sometimes then I would on the official Joomla site ) Well, I just wanted to put my vote for a wiki up.
A wiki would help all and anyone to do the simplest and most advanced things possible. 🙂
Good suggestion, let’s hope JA team will/can implement this soon.

February 28, 2007 at 9:32 pm #215069Anyone familiar with this thread??
Who’s in charge?What’s up guys?
you’ve got an incredible community here;
lots of talent & skill not only on the JA staff,
but among your loyal members… many are willing
to help solve problems, point to solutions, share experience, etc.
(perfect example on this very thread)LET’S FIND A WAY TO ORGANIZE THIS TALENT POOL
& KNOWLEDGE BASE IN A WAY THAT BENEFITS THE
ENTIRE JA COMMUNITY!!There’s got to be a way to improve support simply by making
better use of the CMS demo templates & linking from the forum
threads to a “Support/knowledge base WIKI” & then links to the
proper implementation on the live template demos. My main point is that most all of the questions, issues, problems
have been answered–discussed–solved already & we’re simply not
making best use of the CMS at hand! If a joomla based CMS
with a JA template is not capable of delivering enough
useful info & how to’s, to make it “user friendly”
then what is the point??😀 I’m sure we all look forward to a major improvement in the quality of support/service.
Please, respond to this thread if you’d be willing to help, hopefully a good response
here will encourage the devs to implement a better support system.Bonne Chance, mes amis!

March 1, 2007 at 8:03 am #215104Well your so keen on organising something, lets see you throw up a Joomla based wiki on your server where you can troll through all the Ja forums, pick al the Q&A’s and post them there for all to see 🙂
March 1, 2007 at 8:29 pm #215127Yes,
🙂 That is ‘zactly what i think our Open Source community
— 5,000 + of our closest JoomlArt friends—
could probably accomplish over the coming months😉 Kinda tho’t that with the resources of the excellent JA team
& up to 10,000 active members (probably more by the end of ’07)
that this is a realistic project goal.- The work load for creating two new templates a month is somewhat finite, right?
- How much more volume can be anticipated on the forums?
- If the membership doubles–does the forum traffic double also?
- How does that effect the JA staff time spent per forum question or request?
- How much time can the current JA staff devote to working the forums as moderators?
- Could/would/should JA create an official member-based wiki?
- Who’ll offer hosting & a server array?

March 2, 2007 at 2:19 am #215143Hi all,
First of all, thank you for the cool concept and all of your effort to make JA Community a better place. I have just have a small discussion with our guys in the JA team and a beta version of Wiki has been setup. Hopefully everything will be running smooth so that we can open the wiki section so that everyone can get help and contribute to the wiki.
As the members increase in numbers, I am aware of the difficulties in providing a good level of customers services but when more people are getting in the office, I believe we will get everything in order in coming months.
Also, we are openning a Member Reward Program where people can help and get free membership.
@phiktion, your account is fine now.ErikThorsen FriendErikThorsen
