I can’t decide on the best forum: Amazon S3 or Joomla Extension Manager since it involves both. I haven’t implemented S3 because of a myriad of problems discovered by Extension Manager and conflicting download information.

After a couple of failed installations and starting from scratch, I’m not sure if the install has comprised the Joomla instllation.

Joomla Extension Manager reports that the availability of newer versions that are lower than the version currently installed. In the case of the S3 button, the version reported version available doesn’t appear to be available in any of the usual download locations on the site.

Installed version Extension manager says Version available by download
    —————————————————————————————————————–
    1.0.0 Amazon S3 button 1.10 Amazon S3 button 1.0.0 Amazon S3 button
    2.5.2 Amazon S3 plug 2.5.1 Amazon S3 plug 2.5.2 Amazon S3 plug
2.5.1 Amazon S3 system plug 2.5.1 Amazon S3 system plug 2.5.1 Amazon S3 system plug

In the wiki and project manager, the version numbers disagree

The process of upgrading to the current version of S3 leaves some strange looking files in Extension > Install > Discover

    jaupdater.jaamazons3
    jaupdater.plg_jaamazons3

When I try to complete the installation, it generates an error message about invalid or missing xml files or missing manaifest files:

    here is the error message:

I’ve had the orphan files occur before… and there doesn’t appear to be a way to remove them.

If you look at the screen shots. There are other jupdater. files and these have only happened with JA plugs

The template is currently installed on a test site in the login details because of the same problem on my main site http://bytewriter.com. I have repeated this on the test site with similar results each time.

    Hello emeryjay,

#1. About JAEM issue: yes, that is an issue of JAEM for checking version of JA Amazon S3 button plugin, since it is conflicted with JA Amazon S3 system plugin. We will fix this issue in the next release of JAEM.
We have created issue in our bug tracker system, you can follow it here
    http://pm.joomlart.com/browse/JAECCOMJAEXTMANAGERJIVI-64

#2. JA Amazon S3 is commercial extensions, that’s why you can not upgrade it via Joomla Extension manager, you must use our JAEM to upgrade our paid extensions.

#3. Regarding an issue of jaupdater….xml extentions, please ignore this items. Those files are generated by JAEM component to do some backend job, they are not a Joomla extension manifest files but Joomla still show them in extension manager page (it is might an issue of Joomla 🙂 )

I’m licensed for JA plugins including Amazon S3. Maybe I’m not quite understanding here …

When I check the download area for S3, the current available version is 1.0. even though JAEM reports it to be 1.1. Even if there is no conflict or bug, which is correct 1.0 or 1.1?

I’ve never been able to update JA packages via JAEM. I had a problem earlier with that and put in a ticket for it. The ticket says it’s not possible to upgrade JA extensions via JAEM.
