    Great template,

    appreciate your products.

Although I’m having a problem with the site not being centered in IE… It currently is making the forum not even accessible in IE…

Can someone please view the site in Chrome, Firefox and IE and tell me how to make it look the same in IE as it does in the good browsers?

Thank you guys for your help,
    -Matthew

Blimey, you do seem to have some problems. All of your site is displaying to the left in IE9. It seems you have made some mistakes editing your template files somewhere.

Did you make notes about all the files you changed?

Yes, I do have some problems which is why I’m posting up here trying to get some help of some kind.

Yes, I did make notes about all the files I changed…

I’m currently flying blind when it comes to IE, (I’m on a Mac) so I’m not sure where to begin in my notes of all the files I changed…

Any help at all in getting this corrected or to point me in the right direction to correcting it myself?

    Anyone?

    Please and Thank you?

If you could give me super admin access via PM and a list of files you changed via PM then I would be happy to take a look for you.

I sent you this information phill…

Please let me know if you need anything further from my end…

You know, my JA membership expires tomorrow… (tonight at midnight)

Maybe my problem(and my business) will just go away and you won’t have to worry about it anymore.

I feel like I’ve always received better service from JA than this.

I wonder how seriously you guys take customer service?
I guess we’ll see as I contemplate my third renewal with JA, or maybe now is the time to go looking at your competition. What are the other joomla options out there like?

You’ve got some great products JA, but the JA support forums have left a lot to be desired through the years.

It seems to me that if you guys had perhaps a little warmer, a little more ‘systems building’, ‘teaching a man to fish’, educational approach to your interactions on the forums you would help your customers and therefore help yourselves(the JA brand) a great deal in the process.

    again,
I really do appreciate any and all help, as I said, IE viewers to this site are getting a real mess for some reason and we need to get it corrected, and understood what was causing this as to prevent this in the future.

    Thanks,
    -Matthew

    Matthew,

I have asked one of our other mods to take over as I am snowed under with work from my normal day job for the next couple of days. If this is not sorted after your membership expiration then feel free to contact me either via PM of through my website contact page (see my footer) and I will help you out the best I can. Sorry, I just do not have time to help you tonight before you expire. Let’s hope that one of the other supporters can at short notice.

Hi Matthew ; I”m taking this up for phill though I”m no where near the pro he is…
just for your edification http://osxdaily.com/2010/09/18/internet-explorer-9-for-mac/ will help you get ie9 working on your mac. I know its a pain… I personally have 6 browsers install JUST for dev work.
    I HATE IE9 btw :p
as for the cause its because IE9 is starting in quirks mode. I’m looking into why right now.

Thanks to another mod we found the issue quickly… was a sneaky bugger…
the answer is “you have bad doctype”
the reason you have a bad doctype is you put

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.atlas-stands.com/Showroom/swfobject.js"></script>
before the doctype delcaration which MUST be line 1 and not in head where it belongs.
move that to your head block.

    Hey Phil and n6rej,

I really appreciate the help. I’ve renewed my membership as I really do appreciate the products (and support) you guys offer.

Thank you for the IE on-a-Mac link. I’ll have to ‘hold my nose’ as I write out the check to micro-soft I guess. 🙂

Thank you for the ‘doc type’ explanation.

This leaves me with two last questions…

    1) Which doc is the “bad doc type” culprit?

    2) How did you guys find this? (so I have a better shot at troubleshooting myself next time)

    Thank you JA!

I found the document (and the issue you referred to).

    Thank you for that!

If someone doesn’t mind, can you revisit the site in IE and let me know if that corrected the issue? I’m going to get myself set-up to beta-test IE.

Thanks again! (really looking forward to knowing if that got it, I’ll post up if I find out first)

    used VIEW-page source…
the “doctype” declaration MUST ALWAYS be the first line in a index.html file.
because you had your js there instead of in “head” where it supposed to be it read the js as a “doctype” and of course it didn’t match.. ergo IE said 😮 bad doctype…

I’m happy to report my son’s pc shows it “fixed” I specifically ask him to check because he’s only been to your site 1x and he never uses IE so its a “clean” test.
Looks like your good to go!

I was just looking through your site Matthew and noticed the forum is still in blue. It doesn’t quite fit the black design of your lovely site. JA have a number of available stylings in our other templates which you could use here. Might I suggest you pinch the one from JA Kranos? I think that would work well in your site and it only takes a few minutes to apply.
