This may be a Joomla! question instead of a template question.

When in ARTICLE MANAGER and try to set PARAMETERS (the global button next to the NEW button) the parameters I set have no impact on the articles I write.

For instance: I would like to set all titles as Linkable. I make that setting in the PARAMETERS area which I would assume become the “default” for all the articles. But it does not. I’m still having to set the parameter inside each and every article.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    John.

The rules you set for single articles rule over the global settings. When you already changed a single parameter for an article, like “Show title” and have the global parameters set to show none, then the article will display the title anyway. Same with linkable titles or any other option. Note: Do not wonder when the single settings for articles are not set to global settings by default as these are quickstarts that need some of the single rules set to be displayed correctly.

That is why there are three options to chose from for the single article:

Show – Shows the option whatever is set in the global settings
Hide – Hides the option whatever is set in the global settings
Global Settings – Is an option in the article parameter admin, and the global settings only rule for those articles that are single wise set to “Global settings” and so always do what the global settings are set to, hide or show, enabled or disabled etc. for those options of any single article that are set to Global Settings in the admin for any single article.

Global settings can be adjusted via the main article screen and the option settings on the upper right. Do not mark an article when you want to adjust the global settings.

    This should solve your problem!

I’ll give you a “Thanks” to help you along…but apparently I didn’t make my troubles clear.

I have set the GLOBAL PARAMETERS to “Make Titles Linkable”
I then open a brand new article, write my stuff, and save WITHOUT TOUCHING the individual parameters …leaving them all to “default”. But when I save and check out the site, the TITLE of that article is dead…no link.

That’s the issue. I hope I’ve explained it better. I’m getting a disconnect between the global parameters and the articles.

    Thanks!
    John.

    Thanks for the thanks, but:

Have you checked what is checked in the parameters section of the new article at least one time? Now you say you did leave them to default, what is “default” right now, set to global, hide or show? It is not said that a new article is set to globals by default, but I think, without checking twice, to hide or disabled, meaning linkable title disabled by default.

These can’t really be errors of the Joomla etc., there I also had to realize that the fault is oneself in the cases. I am sure you are not disconnected between globals and article.

When that is not the case, than http://www.Joomla.org is more appropriate to ask this question as articles are not part of the template and the quickstart by JA is on the Joomla side not different then the one from Joomla directly.
