Problem exists on ie8 but Firefox3.5 is fine – not sure about any other versions.

I fixed it on my site and its working in IE8…

1. Open /templates/ja_kyanite_ii/css/layout.css

2. Find .main {width: 980px; max-width: 1200px; margin: 0 auto; position: relative;}

3. Change it to .main { background: #F6F6F6 !important; width: 980px; max-width: 1200px; margin: 0 auto; position: relative;}

(you will see that I just added background: #F6F6F6 !important; to the class of main)
