Is there a way to control which sections/categories appear with the intro to their articles on the front page in Teline AND still be able to control the colors in the menu? I want to have all of my sections appear in the menu, but only some of them appear on the page (below the JA News headline/rotating featured articles).

I’ve tried changing the settings in JA News module, but if I remove them from the Category box, then the colors don’t get set on my menu.

    Hi Liz

When you have created the new Sections via the Section Manager, you then need to modify the JA News module via the Module Manager to include the new section (make it appear on the home page of your site) and assign a colour to it.

Take a note of the Section ID number (this is displayed in the list of sections in your Section Manager) and then add this to the JA News module, along with a colour specification here:

Only the section ID numbers listed here will appear in JA News on your front page.

    Hope that helps!

So then if I don’t list a section/category here, its color in the top menu won’t be changed, correct? I think that’s why I was confused. I thought the list was for setting the colors, not controlling which ones showed up. Thanks for clarifying!

    Hi Liz

Glad I could help! Thanks for the thanks! 🙂

This area of the module tells JA News which of your sections to pull to the front page of the site (Under the JA News Frontpage module).

    The ‘colour’ field works twofold:

    1. When you ‘hover’ over the section name on the front page it will change to the assigned colour.

    2. When you actually click through to that section, the normal ‘grey’ lines on the front page will change to the assigned colour.

This does not affect the colours of any menus.

Also, you can modify any of these ‘standard’ colours if you wish … for instance the ‘red’ in the example above. Each of the default colours has its own css file, and in this case, you could modify the “theme-red.css” file.

For instance, if you go through the theme-red.css file and took every instance of:

    #CC0000

Which is the default Telline II colour:

and changed every instance of the above to something like:

    B200CC

Your red section would now appear more purple:

You can find all the css files for the default Telline II colours at:
    /templates/ja_telline_ii/css/colors/

You could also duplicate one of these files to make your own colours, so long as you remember to add them in the JA News module with your Section ID as explained above!

    Good luck with your site!

    Chris
