This is not the correct use of the quickstart package The quickstart package contains the Joomla core + the theme, is like you are installing joomla on joomla
To install from quickstart folder you must unzip the jatc_social_j17.zip on your local, upload all the files unzipped with an ftp uploader like filezilla on your web server
Then with your browser goto http://www.yourwebserver/yourjoomlafolder and the installation starts1 user says Thank You to pavit for this useful post
January 11, 2012 at 5:57 am #433359I have ran into nearly the same issue. Anytime I use the quickstart package JomSocial will not upload without errors.
I ensured my folder permissions were correct (working off of local WAMP stack) and then JomSocial actually loaded fine without errors, but then I went to the front end to test after creating a menu link, etc. and got this…
No matter how I load the quickstart package or what permissions I change I either get upload errors when I try to install JomSocial on top of JA Social or the Community page will not load once JomSocial is added.
I tried doing it without the quickstart and it all worked just fine. Specifically:
-Created a fresh Joomla install
-Loaded JomSocial FIRST!
-Then loaded JA socialThis worked and I can use it but, because it was done this way I can not use any of the sample data making the site very difficult to set up to look the way you want.
If anyone has any advice on how to circumvent this issue I am all ears!
Just to reiterate…I can not get JomSocial to work if I use the quickstart JA Social package and load JomSocial on top, however, I can get it work when I do everything manullay ensuring to load JomSocial before JA Social.
