I am using the Joomla 2.5.4 version. In the profiles area of the Template Manager I have set the Show/Hide to Hide for all of the user tools. The Cpanel button and functioning dropdown box remains on the site. I recently upgraded from Joomla 1.7 reinstalling the template and all of the extensions. The CPanel was not visible before the upgrade. I set the CHMOD on the Templates Directory to 755 from 705 so it is probably not a permissions problem. I use Firebug but still can’t determine a way to turn off this ‘feature’. If no one has a solution I can open up a staff support ticket.

    Hi ncvalkdude

From your template manager go to the LAYOUTS Tab and edit the default layout

    Remove this part of code

    <block name=”cpanel” type=”usertools/cpanel”></block>

If you still cannot save your changes then from your global configuration system tabs enable your ftp user ( insert into your info to access to the site with an ftp client )
