April 26, 2011 at 3:18 am #163224This seems like it should be very straight forward, perhaps it is for people who regularly use administrative template programs, but not for me, someone more comfortable working on the UNIX command line. Anyhow the goal is very simple – to take an existing JA Droid theme, copy it, the folder as is, to a new folder as the new name, then in joomla administration template manager set it up to use new theme I just created/copied from, say, green.
Please check what I’ve written here and let me know what is wrong or missing.
Creating a custom theme –
1) http://$website/administrator/ –> Extensions –> Template Manager –> $template –> global – create the new pretty theme name called “Custom”
2) http://$website/administrator/ –> Extensions –> Template Manager –> $template –> global – scroll down to theme settings
move the new theme, Custom, to the front of the list
uncheck the far right box and save
3) UNIX file system – under templates/$template/core/themes copy an existing theme such as green to a name relevant to the new custom name, “custom”
4) http://$website/administrator/ –> Extensions –> Template Manager –> $template –> themes – the new theme, “custom”, should display in the listHow do I ensure that Bob’s Custom theme, “Custom” from #1 above is now linked to “custom” from #3 above?

April 26, 2011 at 7:11 am #388230Hi,
Please see that you have created a new theme as well as new profile as explained here http://wiki.joomlart.com/wiki/JA_T3_Framework_2/FAQs#Extra_themes
- Once you have both thing ready, go to http://$website/administrator/ –> Extensions –> Template Manager –> $template –> Profile and click on your profile name below the tab title.
- For your chosen profile, scroll down to find Advanced Settings. In this click on edit icon infront of Theme Settings and choose your theme and apply it.
- The above two steps will connect your profile with your theme.
- Now to use it for the site page find Page Assignments in Global tab (if you are using Joomla 1.5) else you will find Page Assignments in left column, below Template Details. You will see Pages & Profiles as titles of two columns.
- Assuming that you want to apply your theme to all site pages, click on DEFAULT under Profiles title in second column, which will show you list of available profiles. Choose your profile from the list and save the template.

April 28, 2011 at 11:22 am #388809Hi,
Settings on the backend seem right but it seems that you have copied default theme to create grey theme without changing stylesheet.. If I can access the files, I can find a solution.

May 2, 2011 at 7:26 am #389376Preferably you should create a new theme as explained in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU2-a0lLKQ0&playnext=1&list=PLBC9B0C0BFE98657E and change related images & styling as you need.

May 3, 2011 at 7:33 am #389564You can change the font in <blockquote> #ja-mainnav .main {
font-family: Georgia,”Times New Roman”,Times,serif;
}</blockquote> on line no 408 in your templates/ja_droid/css/template.css1 user says Thank You to himangi for this useful post
