The userguide asks us to create new mod positions for this template. But for 1.5 where is this interface? If not what is the workaround for this??

In Joomla 1.5 you dont need to create a new module position. The module positions needed is allready in there.

For J1.5 open templateDetails.xml and add
<position>thenameyouwant</position>
to the postions section.
Save and upload to your site.
