How can I add custom css to JA University without modifying theme’s css files?

You should be able to create a new “custom.css” file within file path –> /templates/ja_university/css/

So the file path will be –>
    /templates/ja_university/css/custom.css

I’ve tried that and the custom.css isn’t loaded. Do I need to add anything in the head.php or anything like that?

Hello custom.css support with latest T3 framework . Not with JAT3 framework ,
It seems you are using JAT3v2 framework that is not responsive .
JA University template comes with JAT3v2 (old)and T3 (Latest) version .

In JAT3 framwork you need to edit Template.css file for custom changes .

. . . and if you want to protect your modifications from future updates, then you will need to employ TEMPLATE/LAYOUT OVERRIDES – which is kind of the pre-cursor to custom.css.

If you can provide a temporary admin login (via PM), I can check for you

Hello there are some points that can help you ,
    1. JAT3v2 is not responsive and T3 is responsive .
    2. You can check the template from template manager .
3 IF your site is running on JAT3 , you can find a plugin in plugin manager with name >>> JAT3
if it is on T3 then you find T3 plugin .
    4. As you mentioned your template version is 1.6 so it is on JAT3v2 not on T3 .
JA University T3 template current version >>> 1.1
    JA University Template for J25 & J32(JAT3v2) >>> 1.6

you can check these version on the downloading page of template
    T3 framework .
    JAT3v2 framework

    Well…
    There is a T3 plugin.
    Template is 1.6

Not sure how this happened. I may need to reinstall I guess?

    @suzanna,

Could you take a look again at the version of template? As up to now, the latest version for JA University in these 2 version of T3 framework are:

JA University template v1.0.6 — JA T3v2 framework
    JA University template v1.1.1 — T3 framework

Once again, the ‘custom.css’ file will automatically loaded in template built with new T3 framework only.

    Best
