I have customers who are looking for the following. Instead of manually mailing out reminders for service to be able to have something setup in a website to do this automatically.

For example my one customer is a garage and would like to send an e-mail out every three months to his clients to remind them it is time for an oil change.

Of course this clients e-mail and first oil change date will need to be added. If client does not have an e-mail have it mail it to him then he can create a snail mail reminder.

I also have a water store client who sells everything from UV lighting to water. He would like to have a similiar idea but with newsletters, sales and reminders to replace bulbs etc.

I am not aware of any extension yet made that will do that. Is there one available? If so could someone send me a link to the component so I can check it out.

I look forward to anyone’s response.

    Thanks,

    james :-[

My company provides something that handles exactly what you’re after, though unfortunatly it’s not free. It’s basically email marketing software, it can create forms for websites such as joomla, it can send mails after a set period, either determined by yourself or relating to a date the user enters in a field when signing up. It can also track who opens the emails and whether they click on links etc.. and you can set triggers, so if they click a certain link or open a certain email it can add them to another mailing list (so you can create very specific targeted mailing lists)

It isn’t a joomla extension, but rather a standalone web application, there’s a link to my site below, where there’s a demo of it.

Looks great but a little more than I would like to spend monthly. It would be nice to purchase an extension outright and not pay a monthly rate.

From what I read and can see would do the trick and nice work as well.

    Thanks,

Here is a visio drawing of what it needs to do. Kinda rough, but to the point I believe.

    Also in an html file

    Hi James

    Interesting project.

I know the guys over at JoomSuite have been developing some resources along these lines. Personally I’m using JoomSuite User and JoomSuite Member extensions on my site. Nothing as complicated as your diagram but I do have ‘pay to access’ content and it automatically e-mails the various users the day their subscription expires, so I think what you’re trying to achieve is not impossible.

They have a new component just released, Joom Suite Resources and from first glance it may do some of what you want (built in Calendar’s, etc.). More info here:

    http://joomsuite.com/index.php?option=com_resource&view=article&article=16&Itemid=12

They’ve always been real helpful with me, even popping in to help with configuring a couple of components for me. You can find the contact details of the founder, CEO and various developers here:

    http://joomsuite.com/index.php?option=com_resource&view=list&category_id=1&Itemid=3
It may be worth contacting them and ask if one, or a combination of their components could acheive this?

Hope you get it working, would be well cool 😎

    Cheers

I forgot I was a member with JoomSuite. So, after checking all the stuff over again, looks like I will be learning all weekend. They have a crap load of good looking stuff. Just wish they had some instruction on all extensions!

    Thanks again Chris,

Keep an eye out for these sites in the next month or so. I plan on using my little reminder type extension. We will see how well I do.

    Arctic Refrigeration
    Water Store Owen Sound
    Botanical Designs
    Marks Automotive
    Sound Decor

Plus I am doing a major face lift to my site.:)

So as you can see I will be busy. Hopefully one of these suckers will get me the SOTM:-[

Good luck with the sites James. Post up some links for SOTM when you get them sorted!
