I had the same problem recently with Ja decor. I will have a look where I edited it. I know it was in templates–>Template_name–>html–>com_content

I can’t find it now but I think it is somewhere in the com_content file. Or if it is a module you can change it in the editor in the backend. Click on toggle editor. You will see the HTML code where you can edit the read more button

You are right When i made the changes to that I made the changes to an older verion (1.0.0) In the newer you can edit it in the language file of the template
