Hello Joomla friends.

I run a Joomla website for my business and have just partnered with another business to provide me with certain rate sensitive products for my clients. These rates are updated by them on a daily basis to their website (also a Joomla site).

My question is….I would like to be able to include a module or plugin on my site which automatically captures the rate information that they update on a daily basis. I’m just not sure how I can do this. I would imagine that it is possible.

You will notice the rates on the top left hand side of the page.

Any advice from you web wizzards?

Hi dmason,
There are 2 ways ussually use in this case :
1 – You build module and plugin access to their database and get info from it(with this way you need know their database info)
2 – Their site provide API and you use their to get info (ussually with that way API provides xml file, you get that xml file from API action and parse xml to get info)

Hmmm…

Ok, this doesn’t sound as simple as I was hoping it might be. By needing to know their database info, do you mean they would have to give me access to their website (id & password?). Is there anyway this can be done securely to protect them? We are business partners, but I doubt that they would want to release me this kind of info. Hopefully I misunderstand.

Do both these methods require customized programing? Or are there extensions built that can handle these requests?

don’t have any extensions handle this request, i think you need hire some freelancer to do it for you, about security you i’m not sure about it.Sorry because can’t help you more in this task. it is not of JA support product scope.
