We are trying to test a migration attempt before we go with a transfer.

Right now we are on Joomla 1.0 and Teline 1.0. and trying to migrate to Joomla 1.5 and Teline 3.0. We did the whole process per the joomla install manual that is online. We FTP’d our SQL export file (80 MB) that we got via mod-migrator on the 1.0 install to installation/sql/migrator/migrate.sql (or whatever the line says next to the box that has all the migrate options) and went through with the 1.5 install. After renaming the installation directory to installation2 (rather than deleting it). we went into the backend, and found that none of the articles and none of the sections carried over, however, we did get 28 of the sections. Additionally, Teline III v. 1.4.1 comes up in the template manager, but is not specified as the default.

We were able to check that, then the whole thing went down- our entire test domain.

We uploaded the SQL at 15:22 (3:22 PM). It is now 5:01 PM. We had about a 10 minute window after it installed that we were able to find that it only copied categories, before everything went kaput.

We’re using godaddy Linux Servers to host our test installs.

Any explanation to the lockup of our domain, and why it would only copy the categories and nothing else? Or is it still trying to read/crunch the 80 MB SQL file?

It looks like the migration didn’t work fine.
You are handling a 80mb db on a shared server ?

Well around 7pm last night, things came alive again, with no change.

This was the third install of joomla 1.5 we’d done with Teline III.

The first one was a basic install with sample data. to that we could work on the color scheme and other customizations.

The second was a new install with our SQL file. and it went completely broke, did not import anything.

The third install was a new install with our SQL file, but we took the podcast migrator (3rd party) out. This install took some of the categories, but no sections and no articles.

What are we doing wrong? We have the com_migrator component installed on out Joomla 1.0.x and Teline I install. We run it, download the resulting SQL file.

We go to filezilla, upload the SQL file “(sitename)(date)(ID).sql” to the installer/sql/migration folder (or where it is that it wants it), rename it migrate.sql.

Then we go to the Joomla1.5 install. go through, get to the configuration page where it asks for the SQL file, click the “I have already uploaded the SQL File (FTP/SCP)” box and the “this is a 1.0 migration file” box. How upload and execute, and it goes to the next page, where it lists a ****ton of errors, starting at line 1. We’ll have to re-run an install if the error list is requested- It’s quite a few pages.

    What are we doing wrong?

edit: additionally, it seems as though the bottom end of the layout isn’t functioning right, either. also, we’ve been selecting UTF-8 as the SQL format, because we honestly don’t know how to check what it actually is. Yes. iconv exists in the PHP system, it’s PHP 5.2 on Godaddy’s server.
